Forty years ago, John walked off a construction site frustrated. The portable sanitation on that job just wasn't right, and he figured he could do better. He'd grown up in the business alongside his father, who had retired from the industry years earlier.
So in 1985, John ordered his first load of toilets and started McCarty's Portable Toilets right here in Weston. The plan was simple. Give North Central WV clean, modern units and the kind of professional, courteous service folks deserve. A few years later, a septic tank cleaning truck joined the operation, and McCarty's Septic Service was born.
Forty years. A whole lot of jobsites, weddings, festivals, county fairs, ballgames, family reunions, and yes, plenty of septic calls. After all of that, we've decided it's time to retire.
As of May 15, 2026, the assets and ongoing service operations of J.W. McCarty's Services, Inc. have been transferred to Zinn's R Us, Inc., a West Virginia company operating right here in North Central WV. The same phone number you've always called, (304) 269-3747, now rings straight through to Zinn's and their team.
We're stepping back from the day to day, but the McCarty name isn't going anywhere. Our family will keep showing up around Lewis County the way we always have, through the schools, our churches, the ballgames, and all the other ways we've been part of this community. You'll still see us around.
To every family, contractor, event organizer, and neighbor who trusted us over these forty years, thank you. You let us into your jobsites, your homes, and your biggest days, and we won't forget it.
