We get asked about these creepy or scream like noises heard in the night pretty often. It's a myth that the noise is coming from a fisher, as evidenced here. Red foxes have a "bark" noise that is what most people are referring to, as it sounds similar to a human scream. There are multiple videos of them on YouTube where you can watch the fox make the noise

Happy Mother's Day to all the hard working moms out there! Relocating can be stressful but seen here this mother raccoon is taking one of her juveniles to a new location after using a scent technique to convince her that living inside this roof isn't safe. She took all 3 out herself shortly after as well!

Everything we do between February and May has to include the possibility of young being present in the situation. In this case, a female squirrel had her pups in a nest built underneath solar panels on a client's roof. Squirrels naturally chew on a lot of things, and that includes the expensive wiring to those panels. So it's not an ideal situation.

We were able to remove the nest and three pups(appearing to be about 3 weeks old) and exclude the solar panels using guards to keep animals out in the future. As expected, the mother kept a close eye on us the whole time. When we were finished and things calmed down, we left the young in a box for her to retrieve and take to an alternate nest site now that she cannot get underneath the panels. She grabbed them one by one over the course of a few minutes.

Humane evictions and long-term solutions are our goal, and during the birthing months often takes a few extra steps, but this situation is a win-win for everybody.

With another round of snow expected to get dropped over New England, it may be easy to forget that wildlife are still around and going about their normal processes. Skunks, squirrels, and raccoons are actively breeding, and one of the most common calls we get during these months are for skunk odors. Often they'll set up a den under a deck, porch, or home add on with space underneath. During the breeding months, females are known to spray often, stinking up your yard and house. Before the birthing months, we can evict them humanely, and provide long term solutions through the use of one way doors and exclusion. Even though it's the middle of winter, we are right in the heart of squirrel breeding season. If you look outside, especially on the more mild days, you may see or hear multiple squirrels chasing eachother through trees and barking at eachother (more than normal). This type of behavior will last for the next 2 or so months.

To go along with this, females are looking for suitable nesting sites. Because your attic can provide a warm, insulated location for raising young, we recommend addressing the issue BEFORE young are born. The process is simpler, there is less damage done by the culprits (both inside the structure and exterior at entry points), and is typically less costly. Getting involved once pups are born often means physically removing them from inside the structure, and while this is certainly a common practice by us, its more imposing on the animals themselves.

If you're hearing or seeing squirrels run around your roof, don't wait too long assuming the problem might "go away", because with wildlife, it only gets worse.

Guaranteed results, humane practices. Call today!

During the winter months, big brown bat colonies are known to hibernate right inside your structure. While some do migrate to known overwintering hibernacula, sometimes they may just decide to drop down from your attic into wall voids, chimney chases (that often lead to basements) or other insulated areas. While we can't legally evict them from the structure in the winter, we gladly perform inspections and can even start part of the process before spring comes and the full evixtion can happen. This large colony could be what you have seen in your home in the active months, and "disappeared", but may still be hiding in your structure. Call us for a home inspection on a current or previous issue (that may only be temporarily hiding!
