Hello! My name is Ivan Seleznev and this summer, in an effort to give back to my community, I am going to be visiting different parks/public spaces in Western Mass and picking up litter. I love going on nature walks and after walking around Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke earlier this year, I noticed there was a major litter problem. During this stroll my girlfriend and I had decided to pick up as much trash as we could by hand and toss it in the nearest trash can by the entrance. After this experience we wanted to make it a mission to clean up as much litter as possible before I transfer to UMASS Amherst Isenberg from Holyoke Community College this upcoming fall, in pursuit of an accounting degree. While this is a very exciting move for me, the cost of attending college is high and I wanted to create a location where I can accept potential donations that will go directly towards my college fund. Everyone needs community and I want to make a positive impact on ours, even if it is just by picking up trash.
This past Thursday, I spent my afternoon cleaning up around Whitney Field and Little River in Westfield near the Colombia Rail Trail. Today was very successful, I was able to take 3 bags of trash off the ground and a plastic container lid. Starting the summer off strong! 💪
Donations are not required, but if you see this and know any location in western mass that is in need of cleanup you can message me here. Let's do our best to make our great cities look cleaner than ever this summer!
