An Unexplained Experience While Cleaning a Home-
A couple of years ago, I had an unsettling experience while working as a house cleaner for a lovely couple in my town. I had been cleaning their home for several months, and during that time, I had never experienced anything unusual or out of the ordinary.
A few weeks before the incident, the husband’s mother had passed away, and he had brought some of her family heirlooms into the house.
On the morning of the incident, the wife informed me that her husband would be stopping by to pick up an item he needed to take to a repair shop. She explained that he would be entering through the garage, which opened directly into the kitchen, and reassured me that I shouldn’t be alarmed if he came in while I was cleaning.
Shortly after she left for work, her husband arrived, collected the items he needed, and left. I witnessed the entire visit and continued with my cleaning.
Approximately 20 minutes later, I stepped into the supply room off the kitchen to retrieve some additional cleaning products. When I returned to the kitchen island and began wiping it down, I distinctly heard footsteps coming down the hallway and then descending the stairs from the second floor, where the bedrooms were located.
I immediately called out, thinking someone must be in the house. There was no response.
I paused for a moment, puzzled by what I had heard, but eventually continued cleaning. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was unusual about the situation, especially since I believed I was alone in the house.
A short time later, the husband unexpectedly appeared again, entering through the garage and walking into the kitchen. I stopped what I was doing and asked him, “Weren’t you just here a little while ago?”
He looked surprised and told me he hadn’t been. He explained that he had returned because he had forgotten another item he needed to take to the repair shop.
At that moment, I felt genuinely unsettled. I knew I had seen him leave earlier, yet I had also heard what sounded like someone walking down the hallway and stairs while I believed the house was empty.
I still had the rest of the house to clean, including the upstairs area where I had heard the footsteps, so I had to put my uneasiness aside and finish my work.
Nothing else unusual happened that day, but the experience stayed with me.
The next time I returned to clean, I mentioned the incident to the wife and asked whether she had ever experienced any strange noises in the house. She told me she hadn’t noticed anything unusual, other than the normal creaking sounds associated with a house settling.
However, what I had heard that morning didn’t sound like ordinary creaking to me. The footsteps had been distinct and deliberate, moving from the hallway down the stairs as though someone were physically walking through the house.
Over the following month or so, I continued cleaning for the couple, but I experienced additional unexplained occurrences. On several occasions, I heard more footsteps, the sound of someone walking, and other noises that I couldn’t readily explain.
I had no reason to expect anything unusual when I first began working in that home. I had been there for months without incident, and nothing about my routine had prepared me for what happened that day.
To this day, I cannot explain what I heard. I can only describe what I experienced and how genuinely strange it felt to hear footsteps in a house where, as far as I knew, no one was present.

I honestly don’t have many fun stories but the office of _ _ _ _ is haunted I feel but for the most part things just fall all the time and I hear someone walk up the stairs but that seems standard to me because I lived in a very haunted house growing up we would come home and furniture was moved the sink would turn on by itself as we watched children laughing that aren’t there a whole bunch of things lol

I dont really celebrate Halloween but there was a house that I had to clean where I felt very uneasy. They had a skull on a table and books about witches and witchcraft. It seemed like someone was there in the house even though they were supposedly not home. I didn't finish the cleaning either and got out of there a fast as I could. They did complain but I just didn't feel comfortable there at all.
