Effluent filters are a great extra protection to help keep solids from reaching your drainfield. Not all septic tanks have them. It’s important to know if you have one in your septic tank, and if you have one regular cleaning is necessary. This tank had a forgotten filter that completely clogged and caused some back up issues!

💥pumped the tank
💥found the clogged filter
💥cleaned the filter and back in place

We recommend checking on and cleaning your effluent filter at least once a year!

Old corroded cast iron outlet tee was completely blocked and causing the septic tank to overflow.
Removed cast iron tee, used camera to verify line from the septic tank to the distribution box was still in good shape, and installed new PVC outlet tee to get things flowing again. A low cost solution that allows this customer to get a few more years use out of an older system!

The septic tank location at this old farm house had been forgotten over the years. Probing the yard was unsuccessful with the rock hard dry clay soil. Thankfully we were able to open up a sewer line in the basement to insert the sewer camera. Using a camera and locator we quickly found the tank lid 20” deep in that hard clay soil. Interesting enough the septic tank was no where near the location the county records had shown it to be! Once we got it dug up and pumped out, a riser was installed so that next time there will be no searching and quick access to the septic tank!

Recent service call with sewer backing up into customer’s home. Found an over flowing pump tank with the effluent pump no longer pumping effluent out of the tank to the drain field. Also a poor install with wires buried directly in the soil and no riser access to the pump tank!

We were able to help the customer with
-new effluent pump
-new float switches
-new riser to provide access
-cleaning out 20+ years of sludge from the pump tank
-All wiring now properly protected in conduit
-All wiring connections made in above ground junction box

Call Jerry’s for any septic tank pumping, repairs, and inspections!

Flushable wipes! They are horrible for septic systems. They cause clogs and backups in your pipes and tank. They clog up the pump truck that pumps out your septic tank, and they cause clogs and damage at wastewater treatment facilities. Even though they are advertised as flushable they do not dissolve and break down like toilet paper. Over time they pile up and create larger issues and expenses. If you use wipes please throw them directly in the trash and not in the toilet!

What is hiding underground in your septic system?! A septic system starts with a septic tank.

A septic tank has a glamorous job of separating solids from the wastewater stream and to hold those solids in the tank to prevent solids from making their way out into your drain field. Solids making their way into your drain field is a bad day, and we are here to help you prevent that.

As wastewater flows through the tank, solids separate out of the effluent. Fats, oils, and grease float to the surface to form a floating scum layer. While solids made up of human waste, toilet paper, and organic matter settle to the bottom of the tank to form a sludge layer. Baffles on the inlet pipe and outlet pipe help prevent the floating scum layer from flowing into the inlet or outlet pipe.

A septic tank is basically a trap and holding tank for solids in our onsite wastewater systems.

Septic systems are hidden outside our homes and underground. Most home owners do not give septic systems much thought. Just like HVAC systems and electrical, septic systems require maintenance and play an important role in the comfort of your home. The single most important maintenance item that will keep your septic system functioning properly, is routinely having your septic tank pumped out every 3-5 years. Do you know when the last time your septic tank was pumped out?!
