We observed several cracked and spalling brick on this chimney. The crown was cracked and in need of repair.

The solution was to replace the brick, pressure wash the entire chimney so that it could be waterproofed. This will prevent the new and old brick from spalling and protect the chimney against water. It even looks better after pressure washing.

This is why the inspection is the most important part of "sweep and inspection". All of this trash and attic insulation is sitting directly on top of a factory built fireplace. This is a major potential hazard. Luckily the customer called for a sweep and inspection after buying his new home before he used his fireplace. We removed all of the debris and the wood / combustible material within the minimum clearance range. Now they can operate their fireplace with peace of mind.

Here's a photo dump of the most recent crown repairs. If the crown on your chimney is cracked it can and will eventually destroy the masonry all through the chimney. This crown coat will keep water from entering and prevent costly repairs.

Out with the old and in with the new. During the sweep and inspection I observed buckling in the chimney pipe which is a potential hazard. Commonly caused by high heat events aka chimney fires or over firing the fireplace over a period of time.

We replaced the old unit with a new high efficiency Forever Fireplace with the best warranty out there and it's transferrable. They'll enjoy this fireplace for years to come.

Ronnie Fesperman @ Patriotic PTG & Flooring assisted with the Rip and Replace. Then him and one of his guys cut and installed the beautiful cypress in no time. Great work!

Here's the most recent chimney chase cover replacement. The customers stated that they heard water dripping every time it rained. During the inspection I noticed the chase cover was rusted all the way through. Problem solved.
