It’s fall time! This means wasp behavior is erratic!

In the fall, queens leave their colonies behind to prepare for winter time. The wasps themselves that are left behind are on the hunt for sweets or carbohydrates, the primary energy source that keeps them flying and active for other routine activities.

This week we had the honor to service a church and evict some raccoons inside of a bell tower. This was a momma and her baby’s the morning after we set the trap. Thankful we get to serve the community.

False Chinch Bugs are currently infesting Colorado business and homes.

Here’s some quick facts to keep you up to date.

- Mustard family plants, such as radish, canola, and mustard greens are particularly favored by false chinch bugs.

- False chinch bugs feed by sucking sap from plants.

-False chinch bugs do not bite, do not feed nor damage anything indoors, and will ultimately die out if trapped inside.

- False chinch bugs feed by sucking sap from plants. However, their feeding does not seem to be very destructive and often little, if any injury is observed. However, false chinch bugs most often occur in aggregations which sometimes can involve thousands of individuals on a single plant. Wilting and leaf dieback may occur under these conditions, particularly when plants are under drought stress.

- False chinch bugs (Nysius raphanus) are small, grayish insects that sometimes become extremely abundant. They feed on a variety plants and occasionally cause some plant injury, particularly to certain highly favored mustards. During periods of extreme hot, dry weather they also may move to the relative cool of buildings and incidentally enter them.

We like to pride ourselves for serving the community!

Recently a third story building at an apartment complex had been dealing with squirrels in their attics causing a nuisance for tenants for years.

We had the opportunity to evict these squirrels safely! Then patching up the building in an exclusion and repair to keep any chance for other squirrels to access the building.

Summer is here! You know what that means! Wasps and more wasps. During summer time they will build a nest in anything they can squeeze themselves into. Be careful when opening storage sheds, hose containers and grills.

Fun fact:
Wasps are carnivores! They are attracted to all meats, this is why barbecuing and picnicking on the back deck can be such a problem!

German roaches are a nuisance. They don’t mind sharing space with you inside your own kitchen. If they are not paying rent we can come out and evict them for good.

German roach fact of the day:
They are attracted particularly to meats, starches, sugars, and fatty foods. Where a shortage of foodstuff exists, they may eat household items such as soap, glue, and toothpaste.
