Helpful tip of the week: Quick way to unclog a bathroom sink. If your sink in your bathroom is clogged up or draining slowly, here's a temporary fix. Get a normal plunger and a wash rag. Wet the rag and then fill the sink up about half way with water. Hold the rag tightly over the air vent on the sink (there are sometimes TWO of them, and they will be located on the front of the sink towards you) and start plunging the sink. You will almost be guaranteed to get wet, but this will force some really nasty stuff that has been hiding in your lines to break loose. This will keep you going until you can get someone out to do a thorough cleaning on your line! Good luck! :)

Helpful tip of the week: This week, keeping your disposal blades cleaned and sharpened. Every 60-90 days fill your disposal with ice cubes. Hold a plastic bowl or plate over the opening and turn it on. The plate is to keep anything from possibly coming out. DO NOT RUN ANY WATER WHEN YOU DO THIS!!!! If you run water it actually causes the temperature to drop and will freeze the disposal solid.
Run the disposal until all the ice is chewed up, and turn the disposal off. THEN run water to melt the slush. I do this two times back to back every 2-3 months. You'll be amazed at what is sitting in your disposal that you THOUGHT was clean!
Ohh.... How I hate Facebook today.... lol

Helpful tip of the week: EVERY sewer line has gaps that can catch things as they go down. Lots of products SAY they are flushable. In the strictest sense, yes they are. They WILL actually flush. However, it is NEVER a good idea to flush them. Tampons, wet wipes, toilet scrubbers, swiffer pads.... they will all get caught up in your sewer line eventually and cause a clog. Then you call a guy like me, and we fix the problem.
My rates are really cheap compared to most. My average call is $175. Is it really worth the "convienience" to flush the wet wipe?

Helpful tip of the week: Garbage disposals were never meant to do what most people seem to THINK they were meant to do. They are NOT a food disposal. Three of the worst things you can put into your disposal:
1. Potato peelings. These are high in starch and become sticky when wet. After the disposal, they stick to the walls of your pipes and cause a clog.
2. Pasta. Same basic reasoning as #1.
3. Celery. Tough and fibrous, it breaks down to the stringy parts and winds around your disposal stopping it dead in it's tracks.
Any of these problems almost guarantee a visit from someone like me to clear your drain. Save yourself some time and money.... use the trash can.
