🍁 Fall leaves are pretty… until they become a pest’s favorite hiding spot!

Clogged gutters and piles of leaves around your foundation trap moisture and provide shelter for American cockroaches (palmetto bugs), centipedes, ants, earwigs, and more. 🪳🐜

Keep gutters clear, rake up leaves, and remove debris from around your home to make it less inviting to unwanted guests.

Be proactive rather than reactive—the best pest control starts with pest prevention! 🚫🏡

Freedom Pest Services is here to help protect your home this fall! 🍂

Hundreds of ants were coming up through this kitchen island in a home built on a concrete slab! 🐜

After we placed ant bait, thousands showed up to feed. That’s exactly what we wanted! The ants carry the bait back to the colony and share it, helping eliminate the colony at its source.

When we returned the next day, there wasn’t an ant in sight! 🙌

At Freedom Pest Services, our goal is to get to the source of the problem—not just treat the ants you see.

🦟 MYTH: “It’s getting cold, so mosquitoes are gone!”

REALITY: Cooler weather slows them down, but it doesn’t mean they’re gone for good! Mosquitoes generally become inactive below 50°F. Some survive winter by going dormant in sheltered areas, while others leave behind eggs that survive until warmer weather returns.

Here in the Carolinas, warm fall days can still bring bites—so don’t count them out just because you’ve pulled out a sweatshirt! 🍂

This is active wood decay in a crawlspace—and it cost this homeowner the sale of his house.

Years of excess moisture and high humidity can lead to serious damage. Addressing moisture issues early can help prevent costly repairs and surprises when it’s time to sell.

Wood decay and mold are different issues. Don’t let the word “mold” scare you into a service without a clear explanation of what’s happening. You deserve an accurate assessment and a plan that addresses the source of the problem.

At Freedom Pest Services, we believe in education, honest answers, and protecting your home. 🇺🇸

🪳📸 **SAY CHEESE! IT'S ROACH FAMILY PHOTO TIME!** 😂

Not exactly the family portrait you'd want hanging on your refrigerator! 🤢

This glue board was discovered **behind a refrigerator**, one of the favorite hiding spots for German cockroaches. Why? Because it's warm, dark, and close to food and moisture. Basically, a five-star roach resort! 🏨🪳

🔎 **LET'S MEET THE FAMILY!**

🪳 **BOTTOM LEFT & RIGHT:** Meet two German cockroaches! Both appear to have recently dropped their egg cases, called *oothecae*. And here's the scary part… each egg case can contain approximately **30–40 baby roaches, sometimes even more!** 😳

That's a whole lot of potential new roommates you NEVER invited!

🪳 **AT THE TOP:** We've got an American cockroach making a guest appearance! These guys are typically much larger than German cockroaches and have a reddish-brown appearance.

💡 **FREEDOM FACT:** German cockroaches are notorious for reproducing quickly. What starts as a few unwanted visitors can turn into a serious infestation before you know it!

🚨 **HERE'S WHY THIS MATTERS:**

German cockroaches aren't just creepy. They can contaminate food and surfaces, and their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma.

And if you're seeing them during the day? That can be a sign of a significant infestation!

**The bottom line? The only roach family reunion we want happening in your kitchen is on a glue board!** 😂

At **Freedom Pest Services**, we know where these pests hide, how they reproduce, and how to tackle infestations at the source.

🕷️ It’s Myth-Busting Tuesday at Freedom Pest Services!

Heard the rumor that we swallow eight spiders a year in our sleep? You can rest easy—that’s a myth! 😴

There’s no evidence to support this creepy claim. Spiders generally avoid people, so your bed isn’t on their dinner itinerary!

Sweet dreams—and thank goodness! 😂🕸️

🏡💪 **FROM DAMP & DAMAGED TO CLEAN & PROTECTED!**

What's lurking beneath YOUR home? 👀

Just because you can't see your crawl space doesn't mean you should ignore it!

Our **Freedom Pest Services Crawl Space Team** recently tackled a small, secluded crawl space in Mecklenburg County that was struggling with poor airflow, excess moisture, and wood rot. 😳

And while the space may have been small, the transformation was BIG! 🙌

🔨 **HERE'S WHAT OUR TEAM DID:**

✅ Removed the old insulation beneath the subfloor.

✅ Installed rigid insulation along the foundation walls to meet applicable Mecklenburg County code requirements.

✅ Installed a heavy-duty **12-mil moisture barrier** across the ground.

✅ Carefully sealed the moisture barrier around foundation piers and connected it to the newly installed wall insulation to help keep ground moisture out.

💧 **THE GOAL? A CLEANER, DRIER, HEALTHIER CRAWL SPACE!**

With these improvements, we're targeting humidity levels of **58% or lower**, helping reduce conditions that encourage mold, wood deterioration, and moisture-loving pests.

💡 **FREEDOM FACT:** Did you know that air from your crawl space can make its way into your living areas? That's right! What's happening UNDER your home can affect the air you breathe INSIDE your home! 🤯

A properly managed crawl space can help:

🏡 Protect your home's structural components.

💨 Support better indoor air quality.

💧 Reduce excess moisture and humidity.

🐜 Make conditions less inviting for moisture-loving pests.

**Your crawl space might be out of sight, but it should NEVER be out of mind!**

At **Freedom Pest Services**, we don't just protect your home from pests. We help protect the environment beneath your home, too!

🐜❄️ **FREEDOM FACT FRIDAY!** ❄️🐜

**Did you know insects have their very own version of ANTIFREEZE?!** 🤯

While we're bundling up in cozy sweaters, sipping hot cocoa, and cranking up the heat, some insects have a pretty incredible trick up their tiny sleeves to survive winter! 🥶

🐜 **Here's the COOL science behind it!**

Many insects, including certain species of ants, produce a natural substance called **glycerol**, which acts like antifreeze in their bodies!

This amazing chemical helps protect their cells from freezing damage when temperatures drop. 🌡️

Pretty impressive for a creature that doesn't even own a winter coat! 😂🧥

🐜 **BUT HERE'S THE CATCH…**

Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean pests have disappeared!

Many insects slow down, seek shelter, or find protected places to ride out the winter. And guess what? Your warm, cozy home can look pretty inviting! 🏡

💡 **FREEDOM FACT:** Pest prevention isn't just a summertime thing. Keeping your home protected year-round helps prevent unwanted visitors in every season!

At **Freedom Pest Services**, we've got your back whether it's 90 degrees or 30 degrees outside! 💪
