This modern Moroccan rug came to us after a household spill and a well-intentioned DIY cleaning attempt that left behind noticeable discoloration.

After a thorough wash, we used a targeted stain remover and a specialized UV light to help lift the stain while preserving the rug's original color and texture.

Many people think the fringe is just there to make the rug look nice, but it actually has an important job.

On many handmade rugs, the fringe is part of the rug's foundation. It's made from the warp threads that run from one end of the rug to the other, helping keep the entire piece together.

That's why damaged fringe is sometimes more than a cosmetic issue. It can affect the rug's overall structure if left unaddressed.

If your rug has been in the same spot for a long time, everyday use and sunlight can cause one area to wear or fade more quickly than another.

Rotating your rug every six months is a simple habit that helps spread wear more evenly over time.

Many traditional rugs have a detailed border surrounding the main pattern.

In many weaving traditions, the border was used to frame the central pattern and gives the piece a finished look. Some rugs have multiple borders, each with its own repeating pattern.

Much like art in a museum, the patterns in a rug tell their own stories. It's one of the details that makes handmade rugs so interesting to look at.

Summer brings more than sunshine.

With open windows, beach trips, backyard gatherings, and more time spent outdoors, it's easy for sand, dirt, and other debris to make their way into your rug.

Shaking out smaller rugs when you can and vacuuming regularly can help keep that buildup from settling deep into the fibers.

Not all stains come from a spill.

This handmade rug came to us with discoloration after a yoga mat sat on top of it for an extended period of time. Mats like this can break down and leave residue because of leftover cleaning products, or the material itself breaking down and sticking to the rug underneath.

After a careful, targeted treatment, we were able to lift the discoloration while preserving the rug’s original color and texture.

Not every rug needs the same kind of cleaning.

While some rugs require a standard wash, others demand a bit more attention. We look at the rug's materials, condition, and any areas of concern to preserve its appearance, structure, and longevity.

Not sure what kind of care your rug needs? We're happy to assess it and recommend the best next step.

The color blue has long been one of the most recognizable colors in traditional rugs.

In many cultures, it was associated with protection, peace, and the sky. Many of those deep blue shades came from indigo, a natural plant dye that was used to color textiles long before synthetic dyes existed.

While the symbolism changes from one culture to another, blue has remained one of the most popular colors in traditional rugs.
