Not everything that looks a little strange on a rug is something to be spooked by. 👻

On handmade rugs, slight changes in the pattern, uneven edges, or small differences in color can simply be part of how the rug was made. Older rugs can also show changes in color and wear that come naturally with age.

Sometimes what looks like a flaw is simply part of the rug.

Fall leaves don’t always stay outside. 🍂

When wet or dewy leaves get tracked in, they can leave moisture and residue behind on your rug. Picking them up quickly can help prevent staining or damage to the fibers.

This rug came to us after a pipe leak left it wet and caused the colors to bleed in a few areas.

After the rug was thoroughly washed, we worked on each affected area separately to correct the color. This video shows one of those areas being worked on by hand.

Moroccan rugs are easy to recognize, but there are many different styles.

In colder mountain areas, rugs were often made with thicker wool, while warmer regions produced lighter, flatter weaves. The patterns, colors, and materials also changed from one area to another.

So when we talk about a “Moroccan rug,” we’re actually talking about many different styles and weaving traditions.
