Black Dog Detailing

I had a client this past weekend who I told this story to, but I want to put it out for anyone else who's interested or curious why I was so quiet last summer. Over 10 years ago I injured my shoulder. I went through a course of physical therapy and over the years I had a few issues but thought I'd moved past it.

Starting in 2020, I started having painful numbness in my hands and pain from my neck down my arms. It was manageable but some activities caused more issues than others, including working on cars. As time went on, my symptoms progressed and got worse and I went to the emergency room and urgent care for treatment, leading to me missing work. I'm thankful that my day job can support me through hard times such as these and that my insurance can let me get the treatment I needed, but after a few years of this cycle, I was waking most days in pain and was unable to perform even basic physical tasks. I was diagnosed with a condition which caused the pain in my hands, arms, and the shoulder pain I experienced a decade earlier.

Last summer, I decided to limit the number of clients I worked for to minimize the effect of my symptoms, but I eventually had to stop detailing altogether. I had a surgery in September and have felt better since then than I'd felt in years. While I'm still going to be careful about how much I exert myself this season, I'm willing to take on more work than I could last year, and am able to expand my working hours to include rainy days with my new awning!

I'm looking forward to working with the wonderful people of Waterford and the surrounding area, it's been a pleasure and a priveledge over the last several summers. I have several service appointments open in the next couple of months, but they're bound to fill up quickly. It's been a busy couple of months, I've been booking almost at capacity every week since the temperatures started coming up! As we get caught up on beach time, weddings, camping, road trips and all of the other summer fun we may have missed out on in the last few years, remember the Black Dog for whenever you need your car to look its best!

Spent the afternoon cleaning up the "new" Black Dogmobile! More space in the trunk to haul gear in this bad boy. Shines up pretty nice, and only 250k on the clock (IYKYK).

Let me know if you want to get on the books soon, I primarily work outside it'll be difficult to work through the winter (unless you've got a heated garage 😜) and I'll be more picky about my jobs until the sun comes back.

Even a new car (or in this case, Jeep) can use a detail to make sure it's in it's best shape possible. I spent all day on Monday at the barn working on a couple of cars, some tractors, a horse trailer, and even a golf cart! It was a long, busy day, but I had some help from Molly and Zoey and even managed to get an awkward family photo just before the rain started coming down.

I feel very fortunate to be able to work with the amazing team at Claddagh Ridge Equestrian Center (both on and off the clock). It's like being at home with family every time I go!

I'll be on vacation until the 18th and might not have signal up in Acadia so if I take a few days to get back to you, that's why. See you all soon!
