She is so right about Dawn dish soap! Love Cleaning Fairy Sharie way of teaching ❤️
Fun fact: Dawn dish soap is actually NOT pH neutral. 👀
And honestly? A LOT of cleaners (including me when I first started) thought it was. So no shame at all if you did too.
Most dish soaps, including Dawn, are slightly alkaline because they’re designed to cut through grease and food oils.
Now the big question:
Is it safe on natural stone?
Usually for occasional use? Probably not catastrophic. BUT for routine cleaning on natural stone like marble, travertine, limestone, or some granite, it’s generally not recommended long term.
Here’s why:
• It can slowly wear down sealers over time
• Some formulas can leave residue
• Natural stone is sensitive, especially acid-sensitive stones
• Stone manufacturers typically recommend pH-neutral stone cleaners instead
That’s why professional stone-safe cleaners are usually specifically labeled:
“pH neutral” + “safe for natural stone”
This is also a reminder that in cleaning, we’re ALL constantly learning. I’ve changed so many things from when I first started cleaning years ago, and that’s okay. 😊
