This one was started a few days ago, but I'm cleaning out the rest of my oven this weekend, so I thought I'd share!
This is my oven. There are many like it, but this one is mine. 😜
I've only owned it two years and it's already had the interior replaced once. Not because I'm a horrible cook. No!! Because I took some HORRIBLE advice from someone online, and the result destroyed the finish.
You see, these new ovens with the blue interior aren't so user friendly with the old ways of cleaning. Oven cleaner is a No-No. But that's what I did after a successful 2019 Thanksgiving dinner preparation. Because I believed what I read on a blog post. And I watched my oven turn white and the finish disintegrate in a matter of seconds.
Learn from me: NEVER use oven cleaners in a self-cleaning oven! I say this as your house cleaner- I have learned from this mistake! And RESEARCH every 'hack'!
Fast forward to today, when my poor oven's newly replaced interior looked like my 2021 turkey exploded inside. (I swear I'm a great cook!) What was I supposed to do?
I was so determined to clean this thing I forgot to take any before photos, but I managed to get these shots of the back (the pink and white spots are just the reflection of my hand and my phone trying to take photos) . I found the solution!
Pumie sticks. Good ol' sticks! Some hot water, and an hour of my time (yes, maybe there was a faster way, but I wasn't wanting to try another cleaning solution. I'm all about the right TOOLS for the job). The carbon deposits came right off. My oven looks like new again! And no scratches! The trick is to keep the stick soaked in water as you work.
We thoroughly research ALL of the ways to clean an item before we apply it to the real world. And its important that you all know that I try it out on my OWN HOME first- if it won't work for me, I wouldn't dare suggest it!
Of course, if you need your oven rescued, we're always here!
