Missouri is about to turn our roads into a giant salt shaker, and unfortunately, our vehicles are what's getting seasoned. 😂

Before winter gets here, I've got something I want y'all to think about.

You spend good money on your vehicle. Why make winter any harder on it than it needs to be?

That's one of the reasons I'm such a big believer in ceramic coatings.

They help protect your paint from the elements, keep dirt and grime from sticking as easily, and make washing off all that nasty road salt a whole lot easier.

I'm starting to think some of y'all are bringing half the jobsite home with you on your trucks. 😂

We recently had a gentleman come to us with cement overspray stuck to his truck, and another vehicle with powder coating stuck to the paint.

I'm not sure what everybody's driving through lately, but y'all are definitely keeping me on my toes. 😂

Here's why I'm bringing this up though.

A lot of folks don't realize just how much stuff can get stuck to their paint. You can wash your vehicle every weekend and still have all kinds of contaminants bonded to the surface.

I know the first instinct is to grab a rag and start scrubbing until it comes off.

PLEASE don't do that. I'd much rather help you get it off than have you come see me afterward because now we've got scratches to deal with too.

This is one of the reasons we offer our Wash Clay Seal service. It's a good way to get your vehicle cleaned up, remove those everyday bonded contaminants, get that paint feeling smooth again, and add some protection to help keep it that way.

We also offer specialized decontamination services that we can pair with it for vehicles dealing with tougher stuff like cement overspray, industrial fallout, powder coating residue, and other things that have no business being stuck to your paint.

I'll tell you right now, some of that stuff can be a real pain in the rear to get off. Not everything comes off the same way, and the last thing I want to do is damage somebody's paint trying to rush a job.

I've been doing this going on 7 years now, and one thing I've learned is that knowing what NOT to do to somebody's paint is just as important as knowing how to clean it.

There's a proper way to approach these things, and sometimes that means taking a little extra time, using the right chemicals, and working through the process rather than trying to force something off.

I'd rather do it right the first time than have you paying somebody to fix it the second time.

So if you've got a vehicle with something stuck to it that you can't seem to get off, bring it by the shop or shoot me a picture.

You don't have to figure out how to remove it yourself. That's what you have us for!

Washington, I've got a question for you.

When's the last time you actually looked at your headlights?

Not when they're turned on. I mean when you're standing in front of your vehicle.

Are they clear? Or do they have that lovely yellow, cloudy look that Missouri seems to give every vehicle eventually?

Here's something a lot of folks don't realize.

You might not need new headlights. You might just need your old ones restored.

That's one of the things we do here at Dapper Detailing Co.

We work that oxidation and haze off the lenses, polish them to bring back their clarity, and apply protection to help keep the sun from turning them yellow again.

And there's actually a pretty good reason to do it besides making your car look ten years younger.

We had this Chevy Cruze in the shop for our Wash, Clay & Seal, and I figured it'd be a good opportunity to show y'all what a little extra attention can do for your everyday driver.

**Three wheels, a whole lot of chrome, and about 400 little places for dirt to hide. 😂**

We had the pleasure of getting Mr. Robert's beautiful trike ceramic coated this weekend, and I had to share this one with y'all!

📍 Where's Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by Dapper Detailing Co. as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

When was the last time your vehicle, your home, or your business actually felt clean? Most of us don't notice how much road grime, mildew, and buildup collects over time — until it's gone. That's what Collin and the team at Dapper Detailing Co. do: expert automotive detailing and professional pressure washing for both residential and commercial clients.

After seven years of working one-on-one with folks around here, Dapper Detailing recently opened a brand-new brick-and-mortar location right here in Washington. They handle cars, trucks, SUVs, bikes, boats, and fleets, plus driveways, patios, siding, storefronts, and building exteriors — everything from routine upkeep to full transformations.

What stood out to us was how personal the community side of this business is for Collin. He grew up in a military family, and he shapes much of his community work around honoring his grandfather's service. Though he wasn't able to serve himself, he dedicates a lot of his time to supporting veterans and active-duty members.

You've probably seen him out around town, too — at local Blue Jay events and the Biker Night events hosted by neighborhood establishments. Cement belongs on driveways.

Not on your paint.

Shelby brought us his GMC Sierra SLE Z71 2500 with cement overspray stuck all over it, and this was not one of those “hit it with soap and hope” situations.

A normal wash was not going to fix it.

So we got to work.

Wash.
Clay.
Seal.
Interior cleaned up.
Paint brought back.
Truck feeling right again.

When Shelby picked it up, he said it looked better inside and out than the day he bought it.

That is the stuff we love hearing.

Because at the end of the day, it is not just about a clean truck. It is about taking something you worked hard for and making it feel like it matters again.
