NEW: Restrictive reproductive health care policies cost the U.S. economy an estimated $68 billion annually. People who are denied abortion deal with long-term financial impacts that harm not only their own well-being, but that of their families and their communities.

As president, when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, Kamala Harris will sign it.

Businesses play a key role in supporting employees and coming together as a cohort to address this vital concern.

the (real) FBI just issued an alert about *fake videos* warning of Election Day terrorist attacks that are using FBI logos. If you stumble on these videos REPORT them as fake to the social network where you see them (hopefully you won't if the social networks are doing their jobs well!) remember .gov is the real government url.

The FBI was made aware of two instances of its name and insignia being misused in promoting false narratives surrounding the election.

Don't know if anyone reads Robert Hubbell's newsletter on Substack, but today's entry included the following which I find a good reminder of all the reasons we are going to win this thing today:

"As we head into Election Day, I don’t want to tell you how to feel. Instead, I will describe how I am feeling. I hope it is helpful.
I am feeling confident because we have done everything asked of us—and more.
I am feeling confident because we have enthusiasm and momentum on our side.
I am feeling confident because Kamala Harris has run a nearly flawless campaign.
I am feeling confident because I know that women are determined to reclaim their status as full citizens under the Constitution.
I am feeling confident because Democrats have consistently overperformed the predictions of pollsters and pundits in every election since 2020.
I am feeling confident because pollsters and pundits have underestimated the power of the grassroots movement that has engaged tens of millions of Americans as never before.
I am feeling confident because of the professionalism and dedication of local Democratic Party organizations.
I am feeling confident because Kamala Harris has shown us a new way forward that focuses on the good in the American people rather than on their grievances and divisions.
I am feeling confident because I know that the new way forward that has emerged over the last eight years is a change for good that will persist and prevail long after we are gone.
I am feeling confident because I know we aren’t going back—no matter what happens in any race decided on Election Day 2024.
I am feeling confident because we are standing on the shoulders of generations of Americans who sacrificed their lives, liberty, and security so that we could arrive safely at this moment of opportunity and promise.
I am feeling confident because I know that we will ultimately prevail in the larger battle for the soul of America.
I know that we are not guaranteed success. I know that polls continue to show a race allegedly closer than any presidential and congressional election in modern history. I know we could suffer disappointment—but I also know that we can survive, endure, and prevail over any loss. We have done so before, and we can do so again.
In my moments of doubt and worry, I am drawn to the memory of 25-year-old John Lewis, who led 600 marchers across Edmund Pettus Bridge on Bloody Sunday, March 7, 1965. On that fateful day, state troopers cracked John Lewis’s skull with a club for daring to demand equal voting rights for Black Americans.
John Lewis could have given up when he awoke in the hospital with a bandaged and bloody head. He did not.
Two weeks after Bloody Sunday, John Lewis marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and thousands of others to complete the march into Montgomery.
Five months later, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Whatever happens on Election Day, I am not giving up—and I know you are not giving up. It doesn’t matter whether we win a trifecta or suffer shocking losses, our work of defending democracy will not be finished. It never will be.
Yes, Election Day is critically important. But it is one of thousands of critically important days in the life of our democracy within living memory.
If we are fortunate enough to secure major victories on Tuesday, our reward will be that we get to do it all over again, starting on Wednesday.
Democracy is an ongoing, collaborative process. The good news is that we are working with one another to ensure that we preserve democracy for the next generation. I am honored to be working by your side!"

I BELIEVE IN THE BLUE WAVE!

Under Texas's Trump abortion ban, teenager Nevaeh Crain was denied medical care that could have saved her life.

Texas’s abortion ban threatens prison time for interventions that end a fetal heartbeat. Vague exceptions like “to save the life of a pregnant woman” are unworkable in practice, and require doctors to push patients like Nevaeh to death’s door before providing time-sensitive care (if the care is even provided at all). In Nevaeh's case, three visits to the emergency room and increasingly precarious health weren't enough.

Texas is a preview of what is to come if Donald Trump is re-elected tomorrow. MAGA Republicans have made it clear that their ultimate goal is a nationwide ban on abortion -- no matter who they hurt along the way.

It took three ER visits and 20 hours before a hospital admitted Nevaeh Crain, 18, as her condition worsened. Doctors insisted on two ultrasounds to confirm “fetal demise.” She’s one of at least two Texas women who died under the state’s abortion ban.

The Arizona Daily Star endorses Kamala Harris for president:

"Harris’ campaign with vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz has made a compelling case for the creation of middle-class opportunity, the revitalization of small business, the reining-in of runaway housing and healthcare expenses, and the pursuit of clean-energy solutions to climate change. All deserve to be near the top of any president’s to-do list."

Kamala Harris's "Medicare at Home" plan will cover home care for the first time ever for our nation’s seniors and people with disabilities. It will be transformational for middle class families caught between the financial stress of caring for an aging or disabled loved one and giving their loved one the independence they deserve.

Home care and paid leave are complementary, critically needed care investments that could transform how the U.S. addresses serious health needs, disability and aging.

Breaking: 23 Nobel Prize-winning economists are endorsing Kamala Harris for president.

"Harris has emphasized policies that strengthen the middle class, enhance competition, and promote entrepreneurship... Simply put, Harris’s policies will result in a stronger economic performance, with economic growth that is more robust, more sustainable, and more equitable."

Experts estimate that Donald Trump's budget plan would expand federal deficits by five times more than Vice President Kamala Harris' proposals.

Big news: Nearly 1.5 million seniors and people with disabilities saved nearly $1 billion in out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in the first half of 2024 because of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). That's more money back in the pockets of the people who need it most.

Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the IRA, which caps out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday hailed a new report from the Department of Health and Human Services that said that the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act saved Medicare enrollees nearly $1 billion in the first half of this year. The Inflation Reduction Act, passed by Democ...

The impacts of Donald Trump's economic plans would be devastating for the middle class: Higher costs for groceries, higher gas prices, and fewer manufacturing jobs.

Trump's tariff plans could lead to economic isolation, affecting global markets and increasing costs for American consumers.

As attorney general, senator and now vice president, Kamala Harris has stood up for seniors and people with disabilities. Her new plan will strengthen the rock-solid guarantee of Medicare that generations of Americans have counted on to be able to retire and live with dignity and security. It will be transformational for middle class families caught between the expense of caring for an aging or disabled loved one and giving their loved one the independence they deserve.

In announcing her plan for long-term care on the popular morning show “The View,” the vice president spoke directly to caregivers and older adults, most of whom are women.
