As we transition from "Women's Business Month" in October to the National Groundwater Month and the spirit of Thanksgiving in November, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible stories shared by the inspiring women we had the privilege of connecting with last month. Each conversation reinforced the notion that, regardless of our backgrounds or paths in life, we share fundamental concerns and aspirations.

This November, as we express gratitude for the bounties life has bestowed upon us, let's take a moment to appreciate and honor the women who contribute to our communities. Their dedication to health, well-being, and the delicate dance of life is commendable.

There is a massive Covid-19 testing shortage across the country – could wastewater testing help us decide how prevalent Covid-19 is in a community?

Yes, according to researchers in Massachusetts as well as the Netherlands.

"...researchers collected samples in late March from a wastewater treatment plant serving a large metropolitan area in Massachusetts and found that the amount of SARS-CoV-2 particles in the sewage samples indicated a far higher number of people likely infected with Covid-19 than the reported cases in that area."

At Joiner, we do wastewater testing as well (although not for the Coronovirus). We help companies comply with EPA regulations, like the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Requirements and the Clean Water Act. Companies that produce wastewater need reliable and accurate water testing laboratory services.

The idea to begin testing wastewater for SARS-CoV-2 emerged after recent research revealed that virus particles could be shed through stool.
