New client today. I stupidly agreed to a massive discount because I trust people. She said one bed, one bath, just needed a simple dust and vacuum, basic clean, no big deal, etc.
well…I get there, there’s 2 full bathrooms, okay, me being me…I say nothing. She decides she’s paying me for 3 hours…according to her that’s how long it should take. Half hour in she drops a pile of bedding because apparently im also doing that. Again I say nothing. Bedroom’s done, 2 bathrooms done, hallways done. 1.5 hours in. I get to the kitchen…there’s so much build up on the stove I have to use a razor blade to scrape it off, 35 minutes in I finally decide “it’s good enough” I move on to the rest of the kitchen, living room, dining room, full staircase. It’s been 3 hours and 15 minutes. I’m dripping sweat, exhausted because I was trying so hard to do her a solid.
She does her walkthrough and immediately starts being nasty to me, complaining about how I didn’t even touch the oven or the outside of the cabinets. I as kindly as possible said I’d be happy to stay and clean to her satisfaction but I’d be adding more time to her bill, to which she responds with “I’m not paying anymore f-ink money that I already have!”
I said “well sorry you’re not satisfied, have a good day!” And I left!
She immediately disputed the charge on her credit card and wrote me a bad review.
To be frank and transparent…I discounted my hourly rate to $20.00. So $60 was too much for her, with her new corvette in the driveway and her probably illegal daycare business running downstairs.
Some days I don’t know why I bother even trying to be the better person. Rant over.
