Spring is only three weeks away! That means that the bees will be preparing to swarm soon. Swarming is the way that hives naturally reproduce. When a hive is strong enough and has a good population of bees, they will produce a new Queen, then the old queen will leave the hive and take half of the bees with her, leaving the new queen and the remaining bees behind. If you happen to see a swarm of bees, DO NOT PANIC! A swarm of bees is very docile, as they have no hive, no eggs and no honey to protect. DO NOT spray them with pesticides! PLEASE DO call your local beekeeper's association and they will be more than happy to send a beekeeper to collect the bees. Once collected, the beekeeper will put them into a hive and help them establish a new colony.

On July 10, 1896, Henry Miller, the founder of the IBEW, made the ultimate sacrifice. Miller was working in Washington DC late at night when he was electrocuted and fell to his death. In honor of Miller and all of the other men and women who put their lives on the line, the IBEW has designated July 10 as Lineman Appreciation Day.

Lineman Appreciation Day has been celebrated on many different days of the year in the last half-decade. The first time Congress designated Linemen Appreciation Day, the date was chosen by a nonunion electrical utility executive to coincide with his father’s birthday. Neither man was a lineman. We believe that the day chosen to celebrate linemen should have real meaning, which is why our Executive Board designated July 10 as the date that we officially recognize as Lineman Day.

Anniversaries are important because they are rooted in who we are, the sacrifices we’ve made, and the things we’ve accomplished. We celebrate our national forefathers on July 4 because that’s the day the U.S. Declaration of Independence was signed. We celebrate our veterans on November 11 because that’s the day World War One came to an end. We should celebrate National Lineman’s Day on July 10 because it’s a day that actually means something to linemen. And always should.

💥 How does saving bees save us money on food? 💥

The more pollinators there are for our crops, the more food we have. And the more food farmers have to sell, the lower the price!

Help save the bees, and save your money. 🐝

DON'T USE POISON OR SPRAYS ON YOUR BEE PROBLEM!

It is damaging to your home and to our precious bees. If you spray the poison in your home, the poison stays there long after the bees are dead. Save your time and money and call a bee rescue. You could avoid thousands of dollars in damages.
