Customer: What’s that big black filter looking thing?

Me: That is exactly what that is. A No Vault filter. This filter increases the intake area of your pump by about 35 times.
It is inevitable, almost all aerobic systems pass solids to the pump tank. This filter helps to prevent solids clogging in the pump and the spray heads (in this case drip irrigation emitters).
We utilize these filters on all new aerobic system installations because a little extra filtration now saves a lot of expense later.

Why do you backfill with that material?

We utilize a reject pea gravel to backfill our excavations and bed our sanitary sewer lines in order to protect your investment.
Sure we could backfill with a sandy/loamy soil according to regulation however those materials require compaction to prevent settling.
Settling is when large pockets of air in the soil are squeezed out with time.
Settling will cause pipes to sway, and can cause large depressions at the surface.
