HOW TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE TERMITES
If Sunday night football isn’t streaming on your TV and there’s no bowl of chips in sight, that munching sound might have you perplexed. Though the sound might be confused with the midnight munchies, there’s a real possibility you could have a termite infestation.

Termites reside in 49 out of the 50 states, and unfortunately, southern California isn’t in the lucky termite-free zone. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the signs that you might be harboring these hungry little pests in your walls. The places most likely to show signs of termites are in your home’s attic, garage, or any place outside where wood meets the earth.
Some of the most common signs to be aware of include :
The termites themselves: They have a thick waist, straight antennae, and may resemble flying ants.
Tunnels: Termites build pathways out of mud and cellulose for protection while moving around. These tunnels may look like straws.

Damaged wood: The damage is not apparent visually until it has progressed, but it may sound
“hollow” when knocked on.

Termite f***s: This is easy to spot as it will closely resemble coffee grounds.
If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait until your house becomes the answer to “what’s for dinner?” Take action now to prevent further damage. Give Green Flash Pest Control a call and let us get your termite invaders under control.

It's Rodent and Mice Season as It Gets Colder: How mice and rats get in

Lock your doors, close your windows, and check every opening in your foundation! Winter is coming, which can only mean one thing.

Mice and rats are on the move and looking for a warm place to stay. If you don't want these unwanted four-legged houseguests sharing your blankets, it is critical that you secure all entry points to your home.

Be sure to check all seals and caulking around pipes and cables; If not properly sealed they make for an ideal entry point for these vermin. A baby mouse can and will fit through an opening the size of a pen, while an adult mouse will squeeze through an opening no bigger than a dime.

Rats also have the ability to fit through small cracks and openings. But unlike mice, they also have the added advantage of being great diggers. 20mm (less than an inch) is all it takes to be staring eye-to-eye with your newest houseguest. And with their digging skills, this is an all too easy feat for these nocturnal rodents.

An uncomfortable guest is less likely to overstay their welcome. The best way to send the rats back to the sewer is by keeping your food in airtight containers and taking your trash out regularly. Keep your attics and cellars well-ventilated and dry because what sounds like ideal conditions for us is an unhappy haven for them.

If these precautions are not enough to keep them away, contact Green Flash Pest Control and let them do the evicting.

Known as “the silent destroyers”, termites have an uncanny ability to sneak into your home and remain hidden within its walls for several years without being detected.

While you are sleeping, termites prove themselves to be diligent laborers. For the duration of their lives, they forego sleep and instead continue to build their colony 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Think about just how much work (damage) you could get done if you didn't have to sleep. Thanks to their unrelenting prowess, these pests cause more than 5 billion dollars in property damage annually.

An ideal breeding ground for a termite infestation is a humid, damp area. This “termite paradise” can be created by culprits such as leaky pipes, poor drainage and improper ventilation. While termites can, and often do, go undetected for years, there are signs to watch for in order to protect your home. Observe the wooded areas of your property. If the termites are there, they are pretty easy to spot - just look for tunnels in the wood, mud tubes or their excrement which resembles coffee grounds.

If you suspect an infestation, don’t allow the termites to seek refuge in your walls. Instead, contact Green Flash Pest Control to assess any risks to your property!

Even the most muscular of powerlifters can’t compete with the ant. As one of the world’s strongest creatures in relation to its size, an ant can carry up to 50x its own bodyweight! If they encounter an object too heavy to lift solo, they will work as a group to transport it back to their nest. Ants are complex social creatures who live in colonies, which means even your supersize cookies aren’t safe from these stealthy little thieves.

A single queen ant is capable of laying thousands of eggs, so unless you’re keen on sharing your space with a tiny ant army, it is important to take swift action and let these uninvited dinner guests know they’re not welcome.

There are a few signs you should be aware of that could indicate you have an ant infestation:

- Piles of dirt or soil are signs of ant nests
- Seeing live ants crawling around your property
- Carpenter ants can be heard eating inside of your walls
- If you find colonies around your yard, they could also be in your home

Not only can ants be dangerous to the structural integrity of your home, they can also be potentially harmful to your health. Ants are capable of carrying and spreading bacteria throughout your home.

If you are suffering from an infestation, don’t wait until you’ve got ants in your pants. Call Green Flash Pest Control and let us get your problem under control.
