You know what they say are the two best days of owning a boat? The day you buy it and the day you sell it. Owning a laundromat is about the same. The day it opens... and the day it closes. Today, after eight years, we've decided to shut down Vienna Laundromat. We've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to keep aging machines alive. And the truth is, when you have 32 washers and dryers working and 8 out of order, nobody remembers the 32; they remember the 8. So, rather than continue frustrating people, we've decided it's time to step away. To the customers who simply came in, did their laundry, and treated the place with respect—thank you. You didn’t throw dryer sheets all over the floor. You didn't destroy the bathroom. You didn't let your kids ram carts into machines and dent them. You didn't dump greasy work clothes into dryers and ruin the next person's laundry. You just came, washed your clothes, and left the place as good as or better than you found it. Thank you! You were appreciated more than you know. Unfortunately, not everyone shared that mindset. Over the years, we've cleaned up mountains of dryer sheets, flooded floors, vandalized bathrooms, broken TVs, scratched machines, and damage that made no sense other than someone deciding they wanted to ruin something they didn't own. We were broken into three times. One thief caused over $15K in damage. He was caught, and we never saw a penny in restitution. Takes a bunch of 3-7 dollar washes to make that back. Doubled insurance premiums. We eased the price .25 cents and got yelled at. We supported local causes, schools, and organizations. We donated because we believed in our community. Funny enough, some of those same people who happily accepted donations never found the time to leave a 5-star review, but when a machine was out of order, they somehow found plenty of time to be a keyboard warrior and tell the world how awful we were. Still, despite the headaches, we made great friends over the last eight years. There are people we met through this place that we'll always appreciate. But if we had to do it all over again? We wouldn't. Not because of the good customers—you made it worthwhile—but because somewhere along the way, society decided that respecting things that belong to others became optional. The slobs, thieves, and liars ruined it for everybody. We're sorry to the great loyal people who just wanted a clean, safe place to wash their clothes. You deserved better. When the juice isn’t worth the squeeze it’s best to stop squeezing. Thank you for eight wild years. Lights out. Deuces. ✌️
