We see it all the time, you wanna clean more organically, safer, less chemicals, etc. and that’s great! - were on board with it!
But with all the uses that white vinegar has for cleaning, that doesn’t mean it’s safe for everything in your home!
So here’s some tips we think are most important from our experiences when it comes to cleaning with white vinegar
Keep it off stone surfaces! Stone is porous, and it can strip any type of wax finish from your countertops or stone tiles over time!
(Granite,marble,quartz,etc)
We don’t care what TikTok tells you, no vinegar on your aluminum , or cast iron pans!! once again, long term damage to them. theres very specific ways to clean cast iron with out damaging it - they do not include vinegar.
HARDWOOD FLOORS ARE A NO-GO!
we get it. You don’t want to use chemical cleaners on your ,probably expensive and beautiful, hardwood floors, if your really committed to using lighter materials to clean with,I recommend hot water and a couple drops of dawn dish soap. A little goes a long way and won’t leave your floors greasy, plus it gets the dirt up.
There’s plenty of great options out there, but it’s not vinegar!
* note: always remember to dry your wooden floors to prevent gaps and lifting *
FOR MY PET OWNERS OUT THERE:
This is a big one for all my fur baby loving friends.
Do. Not. Clean. Carpet. messes. With. Vinegar.
think about how strong vinegar smells to us, now triple that. All of a sudden your furry friend,ESPECIALLY cats, cannot smell their own scent.
This could go one of two ways, either nothing happens, or snowball the kitty wants to amplify their scent by possibly making more messes outside the litter box.
* clean up pet accidents with pet friendly carpet cleaner, or once again, hot water and dawn, or another disinfectants *
