Spring is buzzing! Last week’s bee rescue from a wall in Oxnard is thriving. The colony has been safely relocated and is doing incredibly well at our apiary. I especially love getting to see all the stages of larval development. It’s an amazing reminder of how complex and beautiful these hive colonies are.

Ventura Bee Rescue safely removed and relocated a large open-air beehive in Ventura, CA. Open-air colonies are incredible to see! Every rescue like this helps protect our local pollinators and keeps both people and bees safe. If you discover a swarm or hive on your property, relocation is possible. Relocate, don't exterminate.

Just checked in on a swarm I caught here in Ventura earlier this week, and they’re already doing amazing. 🐝🐝🐝

One of my favorite things to see is this image I captured is where they look like they’re holding hands. This bee behavior is called festooning. The bees link up to measure the space before they start building comb. Quiet, patient teamwork at its best.

My bees and I love living in Ventura. Beekeeping in paradise.
