Cloudy day, GRUMPSTER bees. 😩 I had to stop working and go put the whole suit on for the whole day because I got stung several times through my leggings at the beginning. Triple digit humidity and hellishly hot. 🥵 This colony of bees were secretly nestled for years in a tremendously high column (thankfully wood). Their comb was thick, very dark, and really difficult to scrape out. They were NOT happy about being evicted. (Girls, I’m trying to help….help ME help YOU 😘). At the end of the day, I had removed the colony, cleaned it, odor blocked it, insulated it, and replaced the wood at the top where I cut it out. GO GURL! 🧰 Tomorrow I go back and finish cleaning and sealing the bottom area. It needed to dry. The experience was so satisfying! Every single job is different! Problem solving and learning something new all the time is what keeps this 50 year old sprite! Proud of the hard work! 🎉Thank you to my besties at Kona Ice Lowndes for your help this morning! Boarding up the 2nd story window of this historic building in downtown Quitman proved to 🐝 a bad idea. Over time, the plywood warped and exposed an entrance into the open space. This was heaven for the bees. They happily created large heavy layers of comb and honey. We got 2 weeks worth of steps in while carrying all of it (and the equipment) up and down the stairs during the removal…not to mention the heat. It was a sauna up there! 🥵

It was a 2 DEW kind of day. Cutting tile out of the way to get to the colony below was a chore! And the humidity was oppressive! 🥵⚠️🥵 I sure love a cold Mountain Dew! 😍

Just a little white noise while you soak in the tub! Entering through a gap between the outside wall and the plumbing pipe, these bees got cozy in the bathroom floor. Make sure everything is properly caulked and sealed. Bees are always looking for easy access to an empty interior cavity. 🐝

A long 🐝 day culminates with a scrumptious comfort food meal! 🥘 Slow cooked roast, carrots, onions, and potatoes! Served over rice with the roast gravy!

I stopped by to look at a possible honey bee colony in the museum and discovered a clowder of kittens during the process! 😍 Made my day! So super cute! Precious! Cozy just like honey bees in a tight spot, and they didn’t want to leave either! lol 🐈 🐈‍⬛ Baby voice activated!!!! Awe!!!😍
