Some people see an old historic building...

We see thousands of lives worth saving.

Today we took the boom lift high into the air to reach a massive honey bee colony hidden inside a historic downtown column. Tub after tub of beautiful comb came down to be recycled, thousands of honey bees were safely rescued and relocated, and every single minute reminded me why I absolutely love what I do. Just look at the joy in my face! So satisfying!

And the best part? I get to work alongside my son.

Just a mom-and-son team, a small family business with big hearts, rescuing bees one colony at a time. Watching him work beside me makes every sting, every long day, and every impossible rescue worth it.

This isn't just a job...
It's our adventure.
It's our purpose.
And in our opinion... it's the best job on the planet. 🐝💛

🚨 WARNING: What started as a simple bee problem turned into collapsing ceilings, honey pouring through the walls, two massive colonies, hive beetle larvae, roaches, and thousands of angry bees.

After years of DIY attempts to rid this house of honey bees, the homeowner created a larger problem, did not deter the bees, and ended up with a 2nd colony! By the time Daniel and I were called to professionally handle the situation, honey was running down the walls, the ceiling was collapsing in two places, and there were hive beetle larvae, roaches, and seriously ticked off bees everywhere…not just in the ceiling anymore.

Never spray as a solution. Just give us a call. 🫶🏻

My face looks like I had a chemical peel! 😩

The bees don't care that it's over 100° with humidity thick enough to swim through. 🥵🐝

Every bee rescue means layers of protective clothing, heavy equipment, ladders, power tools, and thousands of buzzing coworkers... all while feeling like you're wrapped in a wet electric blanket.

By the end of the day, my boots are squishing, my veil is sticky, my gloves are soaked, and I've probably sweat out enough water to fill a honey jar! 😂

But every rescued colony is worth it. These girls don't get to hit the pause button because it's hot, and neither do we.

It's not glamorous work... it's gritty, sticky, sweaty, and absolutely bee-utiful. Saving pollinators isn't for the faint of heart—but I wouldn't trade this wild life for anything.

Now if someone could invent an air-conditioned bee suit... I'd be first in line! 🐝❤️🔥

House of a Thousand Stingers:
Living Walls are a Nightmare!

Vines on your house cause severe damage by trapping moisture that rots wood eaves. Vines also pry cracks in brick mortar and create hidden gaps (AKA bee super highways!) Today these small destructive gaps allowed honey bees to invade the space between the wall studs and build a massive colony. We will be there Saturday to rescue and rehome these bees.

Why Vines Ruin Your Home

Trapped Water: Leaves and stems hold rain against the house, which rots wood and ruins paint.

Broken Bricks: Strong vine roots push into tiny cracks in brick and mortar, splitting walls apart.

Hidden Pests: Thick growth hides holes and damage, giving bugs and bees a safe home to move inside.

🐣 Tiny Feet, Big Love 🫶🏻💛

My 2-day-old peachick has apparently accidentally imprinted on me, and my heart is completely melted! 🥹 It follows me everywhere—even to the restroom! 😂 Watch this little guy!! Determined!!! (Wait for it….and only 2 days old! Unreal!)

We had a little (literally) heart to heart when I got back from the potty! 😅😘 Now listen here….! 🤣🦚

Who knew something so tiny could have such a big personality and so much trust? What a sweet reminder of how special these first few days of life really are. 🥰

Watch all the way….if you DARE! 🫣 They baited me with, “What kind of bee is this?” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thanks (NOT!) to Jordyn Jones for sending me this "sweet little nature video” of a honey bee…because apparently she needed a good laugh at my expense. 😵‍💫😫

Everything was fine until the camera suddenly ZOOMED IN on the spider while I was watching the video. I about threw my phone across the room! Mission accomplished, Jordyn! 🤪🤦‍♀️🕷️✅

The video was actually a wolf spider in a window sill capturing a wasp (they thought it was a black bee).

Thankfully, spiders aren't much of a threat to honey bees. But what are their REAL predators?

Queen honey bees can occasionally fall victim to hungry dragonflies during their mating flights. Queens are larger, heavier, and slower in the air, making them an easy snack. Nature can be brutal!

The real villain beekeepers are watching for is the invasive yellow-legged hornet, which poses a serious threat to honey bee colonies and is a growing concern here in Georgia.

As for spiders... I'll happily rescue 100,000 bees before I volunteer to hold one spider or even look at it. 😅

Fun fact: Did you know scorpions eat spiders? Suddenly those little armored pincers don't seem quite so bad! 🦂😂

🦔 Just an Armadillo Minding His Own Bee-ness

The bee yard gets pretty magical under a full moon. Tonight's unexpected visitor? A calm very plump armadillo, quietly snuffling through the grass while the bees rest in their hives. 🌙✨

Believe it or not, armadillos are actually great neighbors for an apiary! They aren't interested in honey bees or honey. Instead, they're busy hunting insects hiding in the soil—especially beetles, grubs, ants, termites, and other creepy crawlies. While mosquitoes aren't their favorite meal, they'll happily eat insect larvae and other bugs they come across, making them helpful members of the nighttime cleanup crew.

Now... skunks are a completely different story! 🦨😬

Skunks have learned that honey bees make a crunchy midnight snack. They'll scratch at the hive entrance, irritating the guard bees until they come out to investigate. Then... snap! The skunk gobbles them up, often night after night. Thick fur protects the skunk from most stings, so the colony can lose hundreds of hardworking bees to one persistent visitor.

So tonight, I'm perfectly happy sharing the bee yard with this peaceful little armored friend. Nature always has another surprise waiting after dark. ❤️🐝🌕
