Removing Soap Residue from Carpets.
Soap residue is mainly caused because of recurrent shampooing of the carpet. It is also caused when the excess shampoo is used for washing the carpet, or when the carpet is not rinsed properly. If the carpet is not rinsed properly, then the carpet ends up with remnants of the soap or the detergent which leads to stains. The next time you see any carpet stain or soap residue on your carpet, clean it yourself. But before applying the vinegar to the carpet, test on a small area to see if the color remains intact or fades away.

There is two ways to remove the soap residues. You can do it by hand and you will need 3 things, clean towels, a clean cloth and white vinegar. First absorb the residue soap by placing a towel on the wet area and from the outer side to the inner center press the towel firmly and soak up as much water as you can. Change the towel and repeat this step until you are sure that almost all the water is absorbed. If the residue has already dried there is no need to do the first step and instead take some white vinegar and dilute it. Then with a clean cloth apply the diluted vinegar on the streaks. Pat it gently to remove the soap residue. Dry it naturally by opening the windows or by keeping it in an air conditioned or heated room. Leave it to dry for 6 to 12 hours.

You can also do this with a carpet cleaner. You will need white vinegar and a carpet shampooing machine. Fill the machine with the required amount of water and then instead of providing the shampoo, add a ¼th cup of white vinegar. Let the machine do the work. The white vinegar in place of the shampoo removes the soap residue present in the carpet. Continue doing so until you are sure that the whole carpet is rinsed thoroughly and all the soap residue have been removed. Dry it naturally by opening the windows or by keeping it in an air conditioned or heated room. Leave it to dry for 6 to 12 hours.
