Check out this throw back theme charcuterie board. Just hard maple and walnut to make this peace sign inlay.

I’m considering doing the same for this Purple Heart and maple cutting board. What’s your thoughts? Any other ideas besides the peace sign?

The plan was to have these completed and ready to show as finished charcuterie board/ cutting boards. However Saturday I took a hard spill on my bicycle that resulted in a bunch of injuries. Hopefully I’ll be healthy enough to complete them in the coming weeks so I can show them independently soon.

Purple Heart and maple to make the coolest cutting board I’ve made of this type. The blank with opposing colors on the top will be used to make an inlay that has universal meaning. Looking forward to seeing how well it works out.

This is 1 of 12 that are at the same stage. Tomorrow’s post will give you a peek at them.

Long tedious process: Cut the pieces, layout the desired arrangement, glue up the fields, glue fields to the hand made center section and stack’em for the next sequence of operations.

Looking forward to seeing all 12 ready for you!

Most of the work for the handles is done. Went from 12 billets to 12 midsection with handles. The scrap has been cleaned up and has a potential for a really cool and grain mosaic design cutting board.

The last 2 of handled cutting- charcuterie boards I have are now gone. Although there is another 12 in process. Pile 1 is rough sawn, pile 2 has been hand shaped, pile 3 is all the remnants after band sawing, and pile four or two that I screwed up on the bandsaw. That’s what I got for trying a smaller blade.

12 was the largest batch ever in one batch. They will be numbers 64 through 76. Several will be solid colors instead of just laminated strips of different woods. My plan is to do some inlays on either the bottom or the top but we’ll see how it goes. Check back in a couple of weeks. We’ll see where they are at.

It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to use this set up but I’m finishing 2 custom charcuterie boards ( #62 and #64) with hand made handles. All are unique one of a kind.

Also going to start numbers 64-76 in the next few days.
