How often should you deep clean your RV’s black and gray tanks? 🚌🚽
Even if you’re doing everything right, waste, grease, and soap scum can build up over time leading to odors, clogs, and misreading sensors.
How to deep clean your RV black tank:
1️⃣ Close your black tank valve.
2️⃣ Fill your black tank completely with fresh water.
3️⃣ Add Clean-It through your RV toilet (one bottle per 40 gallons).
4️⃣ Let it soak for 48–72 hours to break down leftover waste and buildup.
5️⃣ Dump your tank, then thoroughly rinse by filling and dumping again.
How to deep clean your RV gray tank:
1️⃣ Close your gray tank valve.
2️⃣ Fill your gray tank completely with fresh water and at least 20 oz of Dawn Ultra dish soap. Pour the soap down your sink drain while the water is running.
3️⃣ Let it sit overnight to break down grease and soap buildup.
4️⃣ Dump your gray tank and thoroughly rinse by filling and dumping again. Repeat the cleaning process if needed.
