🚜 Most people would have thrown this seat away...

In our latest episode of the Atomic Autoworks Garage Upholstery Course, we take you behind the scenes of a real upholstery shop and show what it actually takes to repair a heavy equipment seat from start to finish.

This isn't a polished "perfect world" how-to video. We show the challenges, the mistakes, the repairs, and the thought process that goes into getting equipment back to work. When construction equipment is down, it costs money, so these jobs need to be done right and done efficiently.

In this episode you'll learn:

✔️ How we repair torn cloth seat covers
✔️ Foam repair techniques
✔️ Common upholstery shop challenges
✔️ Real-world problem solving
✔️ How upholstery work differs from what you see on TV and social media
✔️ What it's really like working in the upholstery trade

If you've ever thought about getting into auto upholstery, restoration, custom interiors, or simply want to see how professional shops tackle everyday jobs, this episode is packed with valuable information.

🎥 Watch the full video on YouTube. The link is in the comments.

Have you ever repaired a seat yourself, or is this the type of job you'd rather leave to a professional?

Most people think auto upholstery is just sewing seat covers.

The reality is it's fabrication, pattern making, foam shaping, problem solving, and learning how different products are actually built.

In our newest episode of the Atomic Autoworks Garage Auto Upholstery Course, we take on a custom golf cart seat project and walk through the entire process from start to finish.

This isn't a quick highlight reel or a 5-minute "look what we built" video.

It's a real shop project with real-world techniques that apply to cars, trucks, motorcycles, marine projects, and more.

If you've ever been curious about what actually happens inside an upholstery shop, or you're thinking about getting into the trade, this episode will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the work, tools, techniques, and challenges we deal with every day.

We also encourage everyone interested in the trade to check out the Copy Cat section on our website where you can see many of the products and tools we use in the shop.

Grab a coffee, settle in, and come spend some time in the shop with us.

Most people think they’re ready to work in an upholstery shop… until real customer jobs and real-world problems show up.

Facebook Post Description:

Episode 4 of our Auto Upholstery Step By Step series is now live on Atomic Autoworks Garage.

This time we get hit with a surprise quick turnaround repair on a Volkswagen GTI hatchback.

Normally these cars come in for headliners… but this one had failed stitching on the factory seats and needed real repair work done.

In this episode we show:
✔ How to remove seats in an airbag-equipped vehicle
✔ How automotive seats come apart
✔ Real-world seat repair techniques
✔ Upholstery shop workflow
✔ Work ethics inside the trades
✔ Why newer vehicle experience matters
✔ Real-world shop problem solving

This series is about more than just sewing.

We’re trying to teach people what it’s actually like working inside an upholstery shop and help future tradesmen and tradeswomen understand the things nobody teaches online anymore.

The reality is:
Showing up, staying humble, learning properly, solving problems, and handling unexpected situations are just as important as technical skill.

And yes… real shop life happened during filming too when our camera battery died in the middle of the repair.

No fake perfection.
Just real-world upholstery work.

What real-world shop topic or upholstery repair would you want us to cover next?

Most people aren’t failing upholstery because they lack talent… they’re failing because nobody slows down long enough to actually teach them.
We’re doing something different with this new Auto Upholstery Step By Step series on Atomic Autoworks Garage.

No hyper editing.
No fake “30 second expert” videos.
No pretending craftsmanship happens overnight.

Just real-world upholstery training, honest shop conversations, and step-by-step techniques designed to actually help people learn the trade.

In Episode 1, we start with one of the foundations of automotive upholstery:
🛠 Old school seat pattern making.

We go over:
✔ Basic template making
✔ Material direction and stretch
✔ Why grain orientation matters
✔ Material specifications
✔ Simple at-home upholstery methods
✔ Specialized upholstery tools
✔ Real-world shop insight

This series is intentionally slower paced because real craftsmanship takes time, patience, repetition, and commitment.

The world keeps telling people to scroll faster, consume faster, and move faster…

Meanwhile the skilled trades industry is desperate for people willing to slow down, learn properly, and actually build something with their hands.

That’s what this series is about.

And for everyone always asking:
“What products do you use?”

We now have our Copy Cat Links back on:
👉 atomicautoworks.com
👉 atomiccycleworks.com

Watch the videos, learn the process, and use the same products and tools we use — or very similar alternatives through our Amazon storefront.

If you want nice stuff… you’re going to have to get hands on.

THE COPY CAT LINK IS BACK!

A ton of people have been asking what happened to our old “copy cat” link and where they could find the products, tools, equipment, and random cool stuff we use in the shop…

Well, we’re happy to say it’s BACK — and better than ever. 👊

We’ve been working hard adding new sections, products, categories, and resources to our website and Amazon storefront so you can easily find:
🛠 Auto Body Tools
🛠 Upholstery Products
🛠 Paint Supplies
🛠 Shop Equipment
🛠 Media & Production Gear
🛠 Foam & Gel Products
🛠 Shop Supplies
🛠 And a whole lot more

Basically, if you see us using it in the shop, there’s a good chance you’ll now be able to find it there — or at least something super similar.

The ONLY items available directly through our website are:
🔥 Apparel
🔥 Merchandise
🔥 Giveaways
🔥 Donations & Support Products

Everything else will direct you to our Amazon storefront where you can purchase the products and equipment we actually use and recommend.

We’re excited to bring this back because honestly… everyone’s been asking for it.

So make sure to keep checking both our website and Amazon store because we’ll constantly be adding new tools, products, shop gear, and cool stuff as we continue building projects and testing products.

SUPPORT THE COMPANIES THAT SUPPORT US 🔥

At Atomic Autoworks Garage, we know none of this happens alone.

Behind every build, video, product test, road trip, and crazy idea are companies that believe in what we do and continue supporting our vision, our content, and the automotive and skilled trades industries as a whole.

That’s why we created a brand-new section on our website dedicated to highlighting and supporting the companies that support us.

This new blog section will feature individual write-ups on the brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and businesses helping keep the automotive aftermarket, customization culture, upholstery industry, fabrication world, and skilled trades alive.

These are real companies supporting real builders.

From upholstery materials and lighting to fabrication products, detailing, tools, trim products, and more — we want to help shine a spotlight on the people and businesses helping move this industry forward.

We encourage everyone to support the companies that continue supporting creators, builders, craftsmen, and the trades community.
