ARE AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES BAD FOR MY CAR?
In short, yes.
Automatic car washes are a quick easy fix when your car gets dirty, but at what cost?
When I take my car through an automatic car wash, I want to roll off the lot with my car looking pristine. Unfortunately, those high powered blow dryers never seem to get all the water off of my car, and leave it with water spots all over. If I’m paying nearly $30 for a car wash, the last thing I want, is to have to get out of the car afterward, and dry my car off to get the clean look I’m looking for.
Not only are the water spots a pain, but automatic car washes actually damage the paint on your car leaving all kinds of swirls and scratches.
Think about it like this. Would you use a loofah or wash rag in a public shower that has been used by multiple people before you? Of course not, because that loofah still has all the dirt, grime, and bacteria from the person before that would be rubbing all over your body.
Would you use a dirty sponge to clean your dishes? No, because all that dirt is stuck in that sponge and defeats the purpose of cleaning the dishes. That’s why you clean the sponge throughout washing dishes to keep it free of the gunk that has filled up from the dishes prior.
It’s the same thing with your car. A big name automatic car wash can wash up to a a few THOUSAND cars a day. That means your car is getting washed by the same brushes and cloths that have washed thousands of cars before you that day, and the days prior. Imagine the dirt and grime build up that those brushes are slapping your car with.
Do the right thing for your cars paint and hand wash your ride. If you don’t want to hand wash your ride, we are always here to help! 😉

Auto car washes are handy and quick, but there are many reasons why you may not want to use one.
