Warm weather brings out two backyard problems.

Mosquitoes that won’t stop biting…

or yellow jackets that won’t leave the food alone?

Which one ruins a day faster?

Mosquitoes love when you blame the wrong thing. You’re trying to swat them away … Meanwhile, they’re hanging out near the water source like they own the place. And that water source may be closer than you think.

Don’t let a small water source turn your yard into their hangout spot.

Most people don’t worry after seeing one roach. That’s usually how it starts. But once they’re inside and settled, it usually doesn't stay that way.

Flying insects around your windows or lights don’t always mean the same thing.

Every year on Long Island, termites are commonly mistaken for ants — especially during swarm season. The problem is that missing the difference can delay treatment if termite activity is actually present.

We put together a quick breakdown covering the signs homeowners should know and what separates termites from ants.

Called out for a termite inspection today after the homeowner spotted what they thought were flying ants.

As we started the walkthrough, the swarm began to emerge from the wall right in front of us. It became clear pretty quickly that these weren't ants. Seeing this volume of swarmers indoors is a definitive sign of a mature colony that has been established for some time.

Ever wonder what those perfectly round holes in your fascia or deck are? 🐝

They’re actually the work of carpenter bees. They don’t build nests—they drill into the wood to create nesting tunnels. Over time, those tunnels can expand and affect the wood if left untreated.

We’re out here in Hicksville, NY, applying a targeted dust into the galleries to clear out the activity and stop it from continuing. Catching this early keeps the wood in good shape.

When we inspect a home, we’re looking for more than just damage—we’re looking for activity.

This is what that looks like. Seeing workers in motion inside a mud tube confirms an active colony. Catching movement like this early helps stay ahead of structural issues.

A proper termite inspection gives you a clear look at these hidden areas, providing total peace of mind that your foundation is solid. 🏠✨

Be honest—have you ever bought one of these?

A lot of people have… thinking it’ll solve the problem.

But here’s what nobody tells you:

They don’t work the way you think.

And that’s why mice keep showing up.

A full breakdown is linked in the comments.
