Hello there all you wonderful clients. A little reminder about pricing when hiring a professional cleaner because i love you all much.
I completely understand that everyone has a budget, and I will always respect that as a cleaner and a business owner❤️. We all like to save money when we can. But there is a big difference between paying someone who cleans on the side, or "just for fun", and hiring a legitimate, licensed cleaning business. I know this from someone that's gone in after someone that's "cleaned for extra money" for other people and for cleaners just starting their business as well, we all start somewhere. You can tell the time, effort and love put into a home from start to finish.
When you pay for my business, you aren’t just simply paying for the hours I’m physically inside your home. You’re paying for the cleaning itself, the supplies, equipment, gas, insurance, licensing, taxes, bookkeeping, advertising, vehicle expenses, administrative time, and all of the other costs that come with running a legitimate business. It's not easy or simple❤️
So when someone looks at a $180 - $350 for a maintenance cleaning and thinks, “They’re only there for 3-5 hours, so they’re making $75-$150 an hour,” that’s not actually how it works. That is business revenue, not my personal take home pay. A large portion of that goes right back into operating the business. On an average after expenses, we look at our take home as around $60-$100.
My clients agree to the pricing, scope of work, time limits, policies, and expectations before services begins, from the moment we schedule your time and day of service. If the cleaning is completed before the maximum allotted time, that does not mean you can now add more stuff me as the cleaner to do, but i will happily continue to work until the time frame is closer to being met if there is a time frame, so that your home is even cleaner then you expected. I want you as a client to be satisfied with choosing me for your home❤️
Yes, there will always be someone willing to do it cheaper and faster. You may find someone who isn’t licensed and is simply doing cleaning as a side hustle, there are good people out there that do take pride in doing that. That is completely your choice, and I genuinely understand that everyone has to choose what fits their budget and their home.
But I also have to choose what makes sense for my business as a business owner.
I’m not going to underprice my services just to keep a client if doing so means I’m covering expenses out of my own pocket or working for no profit. Profit isn’t greed. Profit is what allows a business to stay open. I've been doing this for almost 10 years as a licensed cleaner and it takes alot to be able to be in a position to turn some jobs away because it doesn't fit what i expect from my business as well.
I appreciate every client who understands the value of hiring a professional, respects my pricing and policies, and supports my small business. Those are the clients I’m grateful to have and the ones i hope to add in the future. ❤️ I treat your home like my own.
Know your worth. Know your numbers. And don’t be afraid to stand behind your pricing.
