🔥 SO…WHAT EXACTLY IS CAMP FIERCE? 🔥
It’s hard to explain Camp Fierce until you’ve experienced it.
It’s not a classroom.
It’s not a career fair.
And it’s definitely not a weekend of standing around watching firefighters do cool things.
At Camp Fierce, YOU do the cool things. 💪🔥
Camp Fierce is a hands-on firefighter experience created by Oklahoma Women on Fire to give girls and women the opportunity to step into the fire service, challenge themselves, learn what they’re capable of, and experience firsthand what it feels like to be part of the fire family.
Over the course of the weekend, our campers get geared up and get to WORK. Here are some of the fun firefighter things you may experience at Camp Fierce
🚒 Advance and operate fire hose
🔥 Experience live-fire scenarios
🪓 Force their way through our breach wall
🚗 Get hands-on with vehicle extrication
🧗♀️ Learn ropes and rappelling
🔦 Perform search & rescue evolutions
🚨 Learn MAYDAY and firefighter survival skills
🩺 Practice CPR and lifesaving skills
💨 Crawl through dark, confined spaces and learn to trust themselves and their team
And that’s only part of it.
Because Camp Fierce has never really been just about firefighting.
It’s about watching someone stand in front of something that scares her…and do it anyway.
It’s about the girl who shows up quiet and unsure of herself and leaves standing a little taller.
It’s about learning that being strong doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid.
It means you’re willing to try.
You do NOT have to know anything about firefighting.
You do NOT have to be an athlete.
You do NOT have to already know that you want to become a firefighter.
You just have to be willing to show up and challenge yourself.
🔥 WHO IS CAMP FIERCE FOR?
Females 16 and older who are curious about the fire service, and possibly considering it as a career.
You’ll spend the weekend learning alongside other women and being taught, encouraged, and challenged by firefighters and fire service professionals who WANT to see you succeed.
You may come to Camp Fierce because you think firefighting looks cool.
You may leave realizing you just found your career.
Or you may leave knowing firefighting isn’t for you—but with a whole new understanding of just how capable you are.
Either one is a win. ❤️🔥
