If your home has already been sealed on the exterior and rodent activity continues, it may be time to have your sewer pipes checked for potential entry points.

Rodents are talented at finding entry points you’d never think to check. At this home, they used small gaps near the sump pump to get inside. Fortunately, our team found the access point and sealed it to stop the rodents from coming in!

Here’s a perfect example of why vents should never be sealed from the inside. Squirrels used this attic fan to build a nest on the interior screening, which created a serious fire hazard. We removed the screening and installed exterior vent screening instead, which both protects the home and keeps wildlife out safely.

When we inspect attics for critters, the roofline is one of the first places we check. We’re looking for active entry points and any areas that need reinforcement to prevent future access. In this photo, you can see the flashing isn’t secured to the home, allowing rodents to slip underneath it and into the attic.

Warmer weather means more snake sightings. Before you panic, remember: snakes are great free pest control and most are very shy. They usually only bite if they feel threatened. Spot one in your yard? Give it space, leave it alone, and it will likely return the favor.

Not all rodent entry points are easy to spot. Some can be tucked away under your deck! To access and seal these hidden gaps the right way, deck boards usually need to be removed for a thorough inspection and repair.
