Can we talk about something for a minute?
I’ve been doing a lot of move-in and move-out cleans lately, and I think it’s important to put things into perspective.
A move-in or move-out clean is not a maintenance clean. It’s not a quick dusting and vacuuming. We’re cleaning inside cabinets, drawers, appliances, baseboards, bathrooms, kitchens, and every surface that’s been lived in. We’re preparing a home for its next chapter.
To my fellow cleaners: Stop feeling guilty for charging what your services are worth. We invest in supplies, equipment, insurance, fuel, continuing education, and countless hours of physical labor. We don’t just clean—we provide a professional service backed by experience, knowledge, and attention to detail.
To potential clients: It’s perfectly okay if a service is outside of your budget. What isn’t okay is being disrespectful because you don’t agree with the price. Professional cleaning is a luxury service, and every business owner has the right to set prices that allow their business to operate successfully.
Just as most people don’t negotiate with their plumber, electrician, mechanic, or hairstylist, cleaners deserve the same professional respect.
Not every client will be the right fit, and that’s okay. I would rather work with clients who value and appreciate the work I provide than spend time defending the value of my services.
At the end of the day, if cleaning your home were quick, easy, and didn’t require skill, experience, and hard work, you probably wouldn’t be calling a professional in the first place.
The right clients will respect your rates, and the right cleaners will know their worth. ✨
