The last unofficial weekend of northern Michigan summer is here, and we'll be spending it the way it deserves — at the beach, in the yard, on the bike, on the river, and possibly napping. Don't judge.

Yes — the dishes too.
It's the most common question about house cleaning, so here's the answer on camera. The bowl in the sink gets washed and set in the rack. The counter it was sitting on gets scrubbed, not wiped. The microwave door gets done, the rug gets lifted so the broom reaches what slid underneath, and the pillow ends up set the way it should look — the small stuff that decides whether a kitchen feels finished or just tidied.

Walking into that at the end of a day is the actual product. Not a photo of a clean house — a kitchen where the sink is empty and nothing is waiting for you.

Be honest: when did the cushions last come off your couch?

Nobody's come off often, because a couch looks clean with everything in place. But the couch is where the household actually lives, and everything it catches slides down between the cushions and stays there — crumbs, popcorn, the remote batteries, whatever the dog carried over.

In this video the couch gets taken apart: every cushion vacuumed with the brush, both sides, then underneath before anything goes back. The baseboards get the vacuum too, and the floor gets mopped on the way out. It's the difference between a living room that's been straightened and one that's actually clean under the surfaces you sit on.

Our Mondays are busy, so yours don't have to be.

This is what that looks like: shelves of towels folded and ready, the floors done before the phones start ringing, a trainer training a new tech. Even the dog is on the clock.

None of it is glamorous, and all of it is for the same reason — so that when you unlock your office or walk into your kitchen, the only thing you notice is that there's nothing to notice. No reminder to send, no walk-through, no item on your list that says "deal with the cleaning." The busy happens here, so the quiet happens at your place.

Don't spend Sunday doing this.
Everything in this video is a piece of somebody's weekend: the floors vacuumed end to end, the rug, the counters wiped down around the coffee maker and the kettle, the sink cleared, the whole main floor put back the way it should feel. It adds up to a couple of hours, and it always lands on the best day of the week.
Hand it off, and Sunday goes back to being Sunday — the lake, the game, a slow morning where the coffee happens on a clean counter and nothing on the list is yours.

School's about to start. This year, the bedrooms can already be done when everyone gets home.
You know what the first weeks look like: mornings on a timer, evenings full of practices, homework, and forms to sign. The house is the thing that slips, and the bedrooms slip first — beds unmade at 7 a.m. stay unmade until someone finds the energy.

There's a version of your kitchen where the cabinet doors feel like the counters.

The surfaces your hands touch most are the ones that decide how clean a house feels: the drawer fronts under the counter, the backsplash behind the stove, the wall your hand follows up the stairs, the inside of the oven door. When those are clean, the whole room reads clean — you notice it the first time you reach for a cabinet and nothing sticks.

That's what's happening in this video. Cabinet and drawer fronts wiped down, the backsplash tile done by hand, the stair wall, the oven inside. And your Saturday stays yours.

If anything isn't clean when we leave, we come back and re-clean it free.

That guarantee exists because of places like the edges of a kitchen floor. Most floors get mopped in the middle of the room, since that's the part people see. But crumbs, drips, and grease settle along the base of the cabinets and against the wall, and a quick pass across the open floor never touches them. Over time that edge line is what makes a kitchen look tired even right after it's been cleaned.

In this video the mop is run tight along the base of the cabinets and the length of the wall before the open floor is done. It's slower. It's also the only way the edges get clean.

Nobody cleans the inside of an office microwave. So we do.
