8 Tips for Winter Cleaning

1. Take Care of Your HVAC
Every winter, replace your air filters and consider having your air ducts and vents professionally cleaned. According to the EPA, it is best to replace filters at least every three months. We recommend more often in months where you use your HVAC heavily, like summer and winter. It not only makes sure the air stays clean but ensures steady airflow. Furthermore, replacing your air filters also help reduce on furniture and floors. It also removes allergens which can get trapped within your home and cause issues all year long.
2. Clean Behind the Fridge
At least once a year, pull your fridge away from the wall. Clean not only the wall and floor but the refrigerator coils. Dirty coils affect energy efficiency and could increase your energy costs from $5 to $15 a month. ALWAYS unplug your refrigerator before cleaning and any maintenance.
3. Declutter daily
Place cute small baskets in main rooms, when u find a item that goes in a different room place in basket, 2-3 times a week empty basket contents into correct rooms
4. Clean the Dryer Vents
You would never believe the amount of lint we pull for hosing and the back of dryers. But did you know excess lint build up not only effects your dryer’s efficiency, but it is also a fire hazard? While it is super important that you clean the venting system annually
5. Deep Clean the Kitchen
Winter is a great time to organize and dust out drawers and cabinets. clean and organize your pantry. Get rid of any expired foods. De-grime backsplashes and hood vents.
7. Windows
Wash or clean all window curtains & blinds
8. Chimney

5 Reasons to use Hydrogen Peroxide for Laundry!!

The same bottle of hydrogen peroxide in your first-aid cabinet can be used throughout the house and in the laundry room to whiten whites, brighten colors, remove stains and odors, and clean and disinfect your washer.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an oxidizing agent that can be used as laundry bleach. The 3% solution sold in drug stores as a first-aid disinfectant is the best choice for laundry. It is safe to use on all washable, dye-stable fabrics. Just like other oxygen-based bleaches, hydrogen peroxide breaks down safely into water and oxygen and is a more environmentally friendly bleach than chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite)

However, hydrogen peroxide is extremely light-sensitive, which is why it is sold in dark containers. Because it will lose its cleaning ability if transferred to a clear container, add a spray nozzle directly to the dark bottle to easily spot-clean stains. It is most effective when freshly opened but will still provide cleaning and disinfecting qualities for about six months. Eventually, the hydrogen and oxygen molecules will revert into a bottle of plain water. An unopened bottle of hydrogen peroxide has a shelf life of around one year. So shop for container sizes that will best serve your laundry routine.

1-whiten dingy whites
2-removes clothes stains
3-clean & disinfectants washer
4-brighten colored clothes
5-removes odors from towels & clothes

🛑 ⚠️ 🛑 ⚠️ 🛑 ⚠️ 🛑 ⚠️ 🛑 ⚠️
Never mix hydrogen peroxide with household ammonia, chlorine bleach, or vinegar in a closed container. Dangerous gases can form.

Dog Toys

One of the germiest things in households are:

You’ve probably heard a dog’s mouth is cleaner than a human’s. Doubtful. It isn’t that Fido has fewer germs, they just has different ones. Every time they slobbers on Mr. Squeaky, they don’t just transfer bacteria, they create a sticky wet place for other germs to thrive. There’s no telling what their plaything picks up as they drag it around. Clean rubber toys by hand or in the dishwasher (top shelf only). Toss fabric ones into the wash.

When’s the last time you have really cleaned these areas?

~Microwave
Microwaves can get pretty messy, great way to make yours shine again.

Put equal amounts of water and vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl, along with a small wooden object, such as a toothpick, to prevent boiling. Then set it on high for 5 to 10 minutes. Wait a couple minutes to let it cool, then when you open it up, all you have to do is wipe down the inside of the microwave with a sponge or paper towel. Voila! 🥰

You can also add lemon to the mixture for a fresh, clean scent!

~Dishwasher
If your dishwasher isn’t clean, it can’t do its job of cleaning your dishes. Keeping the appliance in tip-top shape will also make it last longer.

There’s an easy way to get rid of all that nasty built-up food debris, grease and soap scum.

Gather some white vinegar, baking soda and a dishwasher-safe container — sprinkle baking soda on bottom of dishwasher, add 1 cup white vinegar to glass bowl placing it on bottom pull out shelf and run. Cleans & freshens

~Clean Stove K***s, Grates and Drip Pans
Throw them in the dishwasher! They’ll come out looking like brand new!
