This is the Southern California Weather Force Flood Risk Model that can be found in the member section at any time during a storm capable of some flooding. Today only reached a widespread 'moderate'. These levels I just calculated for Saturday clearly show a storm similar to January 2018, which is the Montecito disaster system. It is even worse because that one did not extend through Los Angeles so you can bet today's system's flooding was a walk in the park compared to Saturday.
There is a very large high-risk zone as well. Because the tropical moisture is introducing into this system then, values will be higher than many think so I'll go with 4-6" in the burn areas with this system with 6-10" in the foothills.
This is not a system to take lightly. My wind model I will post in the member section has widespread 40-60 mph winds in the metro areas and this is enough to cause damage along the front. Had someone say Ursula today should have been a category 6. A category is determined not by thunderstorms. Ursula, as I stated the other day, is higher in the category now because of the thunderstorms but it lacked the frontal zone winds Saturday will have.
Use Friday to prepare if you have not yet done so ...
I will allow a trial membership for Saturday's system. This trial membership comes with you signing up and automatically being able to log into the main site. There you'll see the member section and see 'set e-mail alerts here' - enter that and checkmark what you want for micro-climate alerts. You can see zoom-able models I am working on when storms hit. If you enjoy it, you can be a full member by joining after the trial is done. I do a trial every month for ONE system to demonstrate how the alerts and member section works. No support comes from the trial as many sign-up and I have few hands.
