A storm drain doesn't have to be completely clogged to create problems during heavy rain.
That's why we're interested in the whole drainage system.
Where does water enter? Where is it supposed to go? Are the lines clear? Are catch basins holding excessive debris? If pumps are involved, do they activate properly—and does the discharge actually carry the water away?
Then we test.
Seeing water move is a good start. Understanding how the complete system performs gives us much more useful information.
South Bay properties can go a long time without putting their stormwater systems to a serious test. We'd rather find a problem while the weather is dry than when water is already accumulating.
