For those of you who are new here, I wanted to share a little bit about who I was before Baileyās Cleaning Co.
For eight years, I was a caregiver. I cared for many different clients over the years, and so many of them became more like family than clients. I laughed with them, cried with them, listened to them, encouraged them, redirected them, celebrated their victories, and helped them through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
When I first started, I was young. To me, it was just an easy job and a paycheck. But as I got older and matured, I realized caregiving was so much more than that. It wasnāt just about passing medications, changing catheter bags, helping with feeding tubes, preparing meals, or assisting with daily care. It was about building trust, showing compassion, and being someone they could count on every single day.
Iāve worked with clients who had Down syndrome, dementia, feeding tubes, catheters, and clients who were so high functioning that you might not have understood why they lived in a facility until you truly got to know them. Every single person taught me something different.
I made mistakes along the way, just like anyone does when theyāre learning. But every mistake taught me something, and I became better because of it. I took my job seriously.
I treated the house I worked in as if it were my own. I helped decorate for holidays, planned birthday parties, ordered special meals for celebrations, brought little gifts just because, and showed up for my clients when sometimes their own families couldnāt. Those moments werenāt in my job description, but they mattered to me.
There is one client who will always hold an extra special place in my heart. We became incredibly close, but I also had to make sure she understood that while I loved and cared about her deeply, I was still her staff. Together, we worked on her behaviors so she could earn more independence and experience more of life. Watching her grow into the person she is today has been one of the greatest joys of my career. I am so incredibly proud of her. We still keep in touch today with her familyās permission, and she even came to my baby shower. That means more to me than words can express.
At one point, I cared for six clients at once. It honestly felt like I had six more kids. I planned breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, managed appointments, kept detailed notes, trained countless new employees, and often worked as the head of the household, making sure my staff stayed on track and knew exactly what had happened during each shift.
Then Iād clock out, go home, and do it all over again with my own family.
People often ask why I became a professional house cleaner.
The truth is, I never stopped caring for people. I just found a different way to do it.
Cleaning someoneās home is about so much more than wiping counters and mopping floors. Youāre walking into someoneās safe place. Youāre taking stress off their shoulders. Youāre giving busy parents more time with their children, helping elderly clients stay comfortable in their homes, and giving people the chance to come home and simply breathe.
The biggest reason I made the change was because I had to think about my own family. As much as I loved caregiving, the pay simply wasnāt enough to support us. Caregivers and CNAs give so much of themselves every single day, and they deserve far more than they are paid. It was never about the money for me⦠until it had to be. I had children depending on me, and I needed to build a future that could provide for them.
Everything I learned during those eight years came with me into Baileyās Cleaning Co.āpatience, attention to detail, reliability, compassion, communication, and treating every home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine.
So while my job title changed, my heart never did.
Iāve always been a caregiver. I just care for people in a different way now.
Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with your homes and supported my small business. It truly means more than youāll ever know.
