After spring cleaning comes summer maintenance! Here are a few tips to keep your home in great condition.
#1 Ceiling Fan Blades
The blades of a ceiling fan are dust magnets. Use furniture dusting spray and a microfiber cloth to remove dust.
#2 Clothes Dryer Vent
Dryer lint can build up inside the pipe, choking off the exhaust. This is bad news because not only is this a potential fire hazard, but can cause mechanical problems with your dryer. The lint can be removed by using a vacuum or a specially designed brush that is used for dryer ducts.
#3 Smoke Detectors
Check your homes smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working properly.
#4 Garage Doors
Pick up some WD40 Protective white lithium grease and spray all hinges, wheels, and other moving parts. This will help ease the strain on the motor, as well as helping quiet the door while its being used.
#5 Air Filters
If you have central air conditioning in your home, be sure to change the air filter every 30 days.
