Suds along the tile line the morning after a pool party look worse than they are. Pool foam almost always comes from one of four things.
🐢 Busy weekend? Lotion, sunscreen and soap from swimsuits hold the bubbles together. Raise chlorine and run the filter.
🐢 Just added algaecide? Many algaecides foam, especially when overdosed. Stop adding and switch to a non-foaming kind next time.
🐢 Bubbles coming out of the return jets? That is air getting into the pump, not chemistry. Check the water level and the pump lid O-ring.
Test before you add anything. Send us a photo of where the foam collects and what you added last week, and we will tell you which one you have.

Most pool covers get used for a few weeks and then end up rolled up by the side yard. The type of cover decides whether it earns its keep.
🐢 Heating the pool? A solar bubble cover on a reel is the cheap, effective pick, and the DOE says a cover can cut heating costs 50% to 70%.
🐢 Have small kids? You want a safety cover that meets ASTM F1346-23, not a floating bubble cover.
🐢 Tired of dragging a cover around? An automatic cover costs the most, but it gets used because it is a button.
Be honest about who will pull it on and off. If you want a second opinion before you buy, send us a note and we will take a look at the pool and equipment.

A Santa Ana night can leave sycamore leaves bigger than your hand all over the pool. They look like a cleanup job, but they cost you chlorine and can cost you a pump.
🐢 Leaves sitting on the floor? They eat chlorine and leave brown, leaf-shaped tannin stains on the plaster.
🐢 Pool turning cloudy or green? Wet leaves leak phosphorus, which feeds algae when chlorine dips.
🐢 Pump sounding loud and rough? A packed skimmer or pump basket starves it of water, and running dry can damage the seals.
Net the floaters the same day and empty both baskets after every windy night. If you would rather not chase leaves until the trees are bare, we will keep up with it for you.

A sprinkler head that drifted a few degrees can hit your pump motor at 5 a.m. three days a week, and nobody sees it. Before you buy a cover, know what actually protects the equipment.
🐢 Thinking about a plastic jacket or a tarp? Both trap heat and moisture, and Hayward and Pentair say no airtight wraps.
🐢 Want a cover that works? A vented hood or a roof over the pad keeps rain off and lets the motor breathe.
🐢 Does the pad hold water after it rains? That is a drainage job, and no cover fixes it.

After a big storm the pool looks like tea and the water is up to the tile. Rain rarely wrecks a pool, but the order you fix things in matters.
🐢 Standing water at the equipment pad? Leave the power off, and do not keep resetting a breaker that tripped in the rain.
🐢 Water over the skimmer opening? Lower it, because a flooded skimmer cannot skim.
🐢 Chlorine and pH dropped? Rain is acidic and dilutes everything, so test first, balance pH and alkalinity, then raise chlorine.
Get the leaves out the first day before they stain the plaster. If the morning after looks like more than a net and a test kit, call us and we will get it back in shape.

Most pools got one light in the deep end and called it done. Adding more is doable, but the type of light decides how big the job is.

🐢 Want a traditional niche light? That means cutting into the shell, so it fits best during a replaster.
🐢 Want light on the steps or bench? Nicheless LEDs mount in a standard 1.5 inch wall fitting.
🐢 Wondering what sets the price? Usually the cord path from the light to a junction box on the deck.

When a spa spillover starts pouring from one corner and leaves the rest dry, it is usually not a huge rebuild. Water always takes the low side.

🐢 Rough white crust on the lip? Start by looking for calcium scale.

🐢 Weak water across the whole edge? Check pump speed, the feature valve, and filter condition.

🐢 A sputtering sheet? Debris may be lodged in the feature.

Turning the flow down for a minute can reveal whether the edge is uneven. If your waterfall or spillover has changed, we can tell you whether it needs cleaning, adjustment, or an actual repair.

Weak spa jets do not automatically mean you need a bigger pump or a new heater. Most attached spas borrow the pool pump, filter and valves, so one wrong setting can make every jet feel disappointing.

🐢 Quiet pump in spa mode? It may still be running at low filter speed.

🐢 Pool returns active while the spa runs? A valve may not be fully switching.

🐢 Water but no fizz? Open the deck air controls.

🐢 Jets fading week by week? Check the basket and filter pressure.

If only one jet is weak, try its adjustable face before assuming the whole system is the issue. If the quick checks do not change anything, a short video of the pad switching into spa mode makes diagnosis much easier.

A spa that heated fast in August can feel painfully slow on a cool Ventura County night. The heater is not always the problem.

🐢 A heavy spa spillover sends warm water into the colder pool.

🐢 A valve actuator that stops short can mix pool water into the spa loop.

🐢 A dirty cartridge filter or low variable-speed setting can make the heater cycle off on flow.

If the heater fires and the spa return is hot, the issue is often flow or valves, not a dead heater. Take a quick video of the valves switching and a photo of the filter pressure before assuming you need a new heater.
