Wash Wednesday tip: the good tablecloth has been folded in a drawer since last November. Take it out today.

Two things are waiting for you in there. The first is the crease line, which after twelve months in the same fold has set hard enough that it will not fall out on its own in an hour. The second is whatever spilled at the end of last Thanksgiving and got put away without anyone noticing, which by now has oxidized into a pale brown ring that needs more than one wash to lift.

Neither is a problem in early November. Both are a problem on the fourth Wednesday.

Wash cold, then pull the linens out while they are still slightly damp and either hang them or lay them over the back of a chair. Most of the wrinkles fall out on their own as they finish drying, which saves you a long session with an iron.

Do the napkins and the runner at the same time. And while you are at it, the guest towels. Future you is going to be very grateful.

Laundry made simple.

Happy Halloween from all of us at WaveMAX.

Go enjoy tomorrow night. Let them run the whole street. Let the costume get chocolate on it and the knees get grass on them and the face paint end up somewhere face paint was never meant to be. That is the entire point of the night and it only lasts a few years.

When the sugar wears off and the pile is on the floor Saturday morning, we will be here. Clean machines, plenty of them, wide folding tables and a friendly team. Bring the costumes, the sheets, the towels and whatever else came out of the evening.

A quick note for Saturday: rinse anything with chocolate or face paint in cold water before it goes in, and keep it away from the dryer until you are sure the stain is gone. Heat is what makes stains permanent.

Have a safe and ridiculous night out there. We will handle the aftermath.

Fast. Clean. Easy.

Wash Wednesday tip: save this one. You are going to need it Saturday morning.

Halloween produces a very specific set of stains and all of them are beatable if you move fast and stay away from hot water. Chocolate first. Scrape off whatever solids you can with the edge of a spoon rather than rubbing, because rubbing grinds the cocoa butter deeper into the weave. Then rinse the fabric from the back with cold water so the stain travels out the way it came in.

Face paint and costume makeup are grease based, which is why plain detergent struggles with them. A drop of dish soap worked in gently first will break the oil down. Blot, do not scrub, then wash cold.

Fake blood and colored hairspray are dye based, so speed matters more than technique. Rinse cold immediately and keep rinsing until the water runs clear before it goes anywhere near a machine.

The one universal rule: no heat, and check before drying. A hot dryer sets whatever you missed and turns a fixable stain into a permanent one.

If Saturday morning looks grim, bring it to WaveMAX. We have seen worse.

Almost everyone washes their sheets. Almost nobody is sure about everything else on the bed. Here is the whole schedule in one place.

Sheets and pillowcases, every week. You spend roughly a third of your life against them, and they collect body oil, sweat and dead skin faster than anything else you own. Two weeks is the absolute outside limit, and less often in summer.

Duvet cover, every two weeks. It is the layer touching you all night, so treat it closer to sheets than to the comforter inside it. Blankets and throws, every four to six weeks, more often if pets or kids are involved, which they always are.

The mattress protector is the one people forget entirely. Every two months. It is doing the actual job of protecting the mattress, and it cannot do that job once it is saturated. The comforter or quilt itself needs two or three washes a year, plus one before it goes into storage and one when it comes back out.

And yes, the pillows themselves. Every four to six months. Most pillows are machine washable, two at a time to keep the drum balanced, and they must be dried completely or the filling will hold moisture and start to smell.

Almost none of that fits in a home washer. Our large capacity machines take comforters, quilts, mattress protectors and pillows without cramming, and our dryers finish the filling all the way through. Bring the whole bed at once.

Done right every time.

Abrimos temprano y cerramos tarde.

Tranquilidad para tu hogar.

Funny Friday: forget haunted houses. The genuinely frightening thing this month is behind the closet door, and it has been quietly growing since September.

You know the one. It started as a small pile. Then it absorbed the towels. Then it took the chair. At this point you are not doing laundry, you are conducting an excavation.

Here is the good news. What looks like six loads at home is usually one load here. Our large capacity machines take the whole thing at once, wash it with enough water to actually rinse, and dry it completely. About an hour, start to finish, and the closet floor is visible again.

Or hand the entire situation to our team and pick it up washed, dried and folded, sorted by color with the socks matched.

Either way, the pile does not survive the weekend. Come see us at WaveMAX.

Fast. Clean. Easy.

Wash Wednesday tip: pull the Halloween costume out this week, not on the afternoon of October 31.

Two reasons. The first is smell. Anything that sat in a plastic bin in the garage or the attic for a year picks up a flat, musty odor that nobody wants to wear for four hours. It washes out easily, but only if you start before the night of.

The second reason is time. Costumes come out of storage with popped seams, missing snaps and stains you forgot about last November. Finding that out a week early is a small errand. Finding it out at five o'clock while children are getting louder is a different experience entirely.

Most costumes do fine on a cold, gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag, which keeps glued trim, sequins and thin seams from catching on the drum. Then hang it to dry. Heat warps foam pieces, softens glue and shrinks cheap polyester in a hurry.

Check it this week and the big night goes a lot smoother. We are open early and late if you need a machine.

Limpio. Conveniente. Amable.

If laundry comes out of the machine and still smells faintly like the hamper, the machine is the problem. Not the detergent, and not you.

Washing works in two halves. Detergent lifts soil and odor-causing bacteria off the fabric, and then water has to carry all of it out of the load. Skip the second half and you have simply rearranged the problem.

That is exactly what happens in an overloaded home washer. There is not enough water moving through a packed drum to flush anything away, so the detergent and everything it lifted settle right back into the fibers as the load drains. Then a weak dryer leaves things slightly damp in the thick parts, and damp fabric with residue in it is where smell lives.

Our commercial machines use significantly more water per pound and run a full rinse, so the load actually comes out clean rather than redistributed. Our dryers finish at a real temperature, all the way through the seams and the waistbands.

Clean should smell like nothing at all. Come find out what your clothes are actually supposed to smell like.

Done right every time.

Nobody likes thinking about this one, but it is worth knowing. Your sheets are not just getting wrinkled while you sleep. They are collecting.

Every night you shed dead skin, sweat and body oil into the fabric, along with whatever you brought to bed from the day. That mix is food. Dust mites feed on the skin cells, bacteria feed on the oil and moisture, and in a warm Texas bedroom both multiply faster than they would in a cool dry one. By day seven a set of sheets is a very different environment than it was on day one.

If you wake up congested, or your skin breaks out along one side of your face, or the bed has a faint smell you notice only when you first lie down, that is usually the answer.

The fix is not complicated. Wash sheets and pillowcases weekly, in the warmest water the fabric can take, and dry them completely. Heat and thorough drying are what actually finish the job. Damp is what lets everything start over.

Here is where home machines fall short. A packed home washer cannot move enough water through a full set of bedding to carry any of it away, and a home dryer often leaves the thick seams and hems still damp. Our large capacity machines wash a full bed at once with room to spare, and our dryers finish everything all the way through.

Bring the whole bed. Sheets, pillowcases, duvet cover, mattress protector, the works.

Done right every time.
