On this area rug cleaning the customer dropped the rug off at my house I usually try to do them at the customers but she had a moving issue so I agreed to do it here. I kind of enjoyed it.

I first rotary brushed the carpet then steamed it with the big wand coming from the truck mount then rotary brushed the edge a second time and then steamed it with a stair tool so I can work close to the surface.

The results are pretty major when you can see the dirt just pouring out of the rug as I worked. I wish you didn't have the wear but overall came out really nice. If you are in Temecula and would like us to clean your carpet or in this case area rugs give us a call.

On this carpet cleaning in Temecula my customer had a muddy pathway to their front door so I put down some of my towels so that we went and track into their home or have to walk around to a further location.

What's weird about this is it so simple yet one of my competitors left a job because there was dirt between their front door and where his van was parked. The review the lady left said how just a single blanket would have covered the distance. It seems to me to be such a weird thing not to figure out a solution but to just leave a job and a customer in the lurch.

So yeah we keep around 15 towels in our truck at any one time not a single towel but enough to dry a tile cleaning so we can easily cover a pathway and wouldn't even need to ask a customer to lay down a blanket to keep our shoes and equipment clean. Maybe that's why we have 100's of five star reviews.

A lot of customers call and ask about carpet spots whether they can come out or not they seem to want to know if their carpet is worth cleaning.

I always say if it's black or gray it's soil and can be cleaned but if it's got a color or a bad smell then probably not. In fact the post below this shows just such a gray dark carpet and how well it cleaned.

That doesn't mean colors can't be removed or made better some color spots like makeup come out with solvent pretty reliably others not so much. In general the brighter the color the worse it is for getting it out.

So on this job in Temecula the customer had another company come out and clean their carpets and this ink stain was left behind it was a fairly easy Patch job and is why I do so many carpet repairs.

On this carpet cleaning and Temecula the customer sent me a video showing his property and I immediately noticed the high level of soil. I suggested adding a rotary scrubber for all 3 rooms for $50 however I also noticed that there was one less room than what I had thought so the price actually only increased by $20.

The customer said no he just didn't have the money to pay that. It took a lot to convince him that a scrubber would benefit and then after he saw the difference he immediately said that he was glad that he did it.

In today's world $50 or $20 doesn't buy you a lot but if someone's going to spend an extra 45 minutes running a rotary brush to loosen the soil before the truck mounted steam cleaning, it's not because they want to make that extra amount it's because it really does need it and it will come out so much better.

We keep our prices down and generally we make the same amount per hour running a scrubber or cleaning a room it just depends on what needs it as to whether we do it or not.

So my website lists pricing for a carpet restretching generally a vacant room medium sized is 150 large size is 200 and small size is 125.00 and then add anywhere from 25 to $50 for furniture moving. So I can generally price it over the phone as long as I know the room size and whether it's furnished or not.

However a friend of mine in Seattle got a price for carpet stretching and that company had an interesting pricing method they priced per wall and if you add all four walls together it would be in the 650 range. So he wanted to know how many walls need to be stretched. So I made this video. Essentially we always stretch three walls. So that company appears to be three times our prices. The big problem though isn't that he has higher prices it's the deceptive nature of his pricing.

In any case this video shows how a room is properly stretched and I hope people understand what it means when someone like me says I stretch the room for X amount and someone else has a multi-step pricing method that gets all confusing and could triple the price.

On this carpet we stretched and are going to be cleaning later I did a snap test to see how tight a room was. As I was talking to the customer I realized I do this frequently but never mentioned it before. I figured a video would be helpful so I left this video below to explain it.

In addition to being unsightly loose carpet can be dangerous and people can trip on wrinkles. It wears prematurely. And if a wrinkle is left in place for a long time after you stretch it down the top is worn differently than their area around it so leaves a visible line where it was once loose.

To do that you do a snap test. You lift up the carpet somewhere towards the middle of the room and you watch the float down. As you lift you can feel how tight it is and as you drop it you should see no parachute effect of wobbles.

Here's the video to watch thanks.

On this carpet repair and cleaning we did in Temecula the customer had a little repair and the full carpet cleaning of his home before renting it out.

To price a job we ask the customer what rooms he has so we get a room count. We price by the number of rooms and if its heavy soil does he want it pre scrubbed or done normally.

On this one he had told us it needed scrubbing and had 6 rooms a hall and stairs but it didn't it only had 5 and didn't need the scrubber. So of course we lowered the job when we got there.

The point of course here is that when we have prices listed on our website we follow them even if that means lowering the bill.

There are times when a room can be counted as two if it's really big or is a combo room like a hall and loft or living room dining room but generally you do a room count and price it from our website or call us.

As for adding the pre scrubber for 50.00 we generally only do it when it's necessary like it has a heavy traffic pattern. So removing a scrubber and a room saved him $80.00 and made the customer very happy.

So if you're in Temecula and want a company that doesn't hide their pricing or add unnecessary things give us a call.

When cleaning area rugs like this one into Temecula I find it very helpful to weigh the edge so that I have something to pull against with my wand.

In the past I've put my vacuum cleaner on it I've had my assistant stand on the carpet but after a while you learn to just pack a couple of barbells which I keep on the truck, after all I'm not using them, so I might as well put them to use.

The area rug came out beautifully and simple things like this will result in a better job because you can focus on the soil instead of focusing on holding it down.

On this carpet cleaning and repair job in Temecula the customer had some seams that were coming apart.

When you look close you can see that they used two-sided carpet tape. This is quite a problem I took a picture of single sided carpet tape and you can see in the corner while it says permanent all over it it also says use in hard to reach areas. The reason is pretty clear it doesn't last especially in a wear area.

To fix it I pull all the tape off but unlike heat set I can't put the iron on the back to melt it off but rather have to just pull it which does shred a little bit but also two-sided tape is not intended for above padding since it sticks to the padding and when you pull it up it tears all the padding up.

So after I removed all that mess I fixed the padding and then stretched it from both directions nailed it off and seamed it properly with a heat set standard seaming tape.

So just a warning don't use the self adhesive seaming tape on repairs it doesn't work. We will be carpet cleaning it tomorrow and now it's all nice and tight and all the repairs have been made so the customer will be able to sell it without causing alarm to prospective purchasers.

So this photo might be a bit confusing to people not in the carpet and upholstery cleaning business. But shows my current setup for cleaning upholstery cushions outside.

In cleaning upholstery we do the frames in the home and the cushions on the floor. Usually we use multiple towels to set them on so dirt from the floor doesn't touch them and moisture from the cleaning doesn't get the carpet or tile wet.

At least that's how I was trained to do it. I realized that when you mist both sides before you start cleaning it was possible to overspray in the room. So I switched to doing them outside on the towels. Other advantages included being able to get those edges much better and not worry about overspray hitting other furniture so you could work better faster.

There was always a problem by the third cushion that the towel started to get too wet and you'd have to switch it out so when my wife quit daycare I noticed the great advantage of using her old nap beds. They were expensive and have mesh that doesn't seem to ever hold moisture. They work beautifully outside and kept the side you just did from getting rewetted.

This was my system for the last 5 or 6 years. My son recently told me how annoying it was to continually kneel down constantly getting up to get a cushion and putting it away. It was hard on the knees for me as well. So I decided to switch to a folding table so we can do it standing up.

Now the folding table is nice in height but I really missed that mesh top. I would have to hold the cushion up in the air and do a one more vacuum when it wasn't touching the plastic top to make sure it was dry.

Okay so now we have cleaning cushions 4.0. a nap bed sitting on top of a folding table. I use a couple of those push clamps to hold it down. The little indentations for the feet will hang my spray bottles I put another one near me to move cushions from or set my stuff on and I now have the perfect setup for doing cushions outside.

Okay so the bottom line is it really doesn't matter to the job but does make me more comfortable. And until someone develops a mesh top folding upholstery cleaning table this is it.
