On this carpet cleaning and repair job in Temecula the customer had some seams that were coming apart.

When you look close you can see that they used two-sided carpet tape. This is quite a problem I took a picture of single sided carpet tape and you can see in the corner while it says permanent all over it it also says use in hard to reach areas. The reason is pretty clear it doesn't last especially in a wear area.

To fix it I pull all the tape off but unlike heat set I can't put the iron on the back to melt it off but rather have to just pull it which does shred a little bit but also two-sided tape is not intended for above padding since it sticks to the padding and when you pull it up it tears all the padding up.

So after I removed all that mess I fixed the padding and then stretched it from both directions nailed it off and seamed it properly with a heat set standard seaming tape.

So just a warning don't use the self adhesive seaming tape on repairs it doesn't work. We will be carpet cleaning it tomorrow and now it's all nice and tight and all the repairs have been made so the customer will be able to sell it without causing alarm to prospective purchasers.

So this photo might be a bit confusing to people not in the carpet and upholstery cleaning business. But shows my current setup for cleaning upholstery cushions outside.

In cleaning upholstery we do the frames in the home and the cushions on the floor. Usually we use multiple towels to set them on so dirt from the floor doesn't touch them and moisture from the cleaning doesn't get the carpet or tile wet.

At least that's how I was trained to do it. I realized that when you mist both sides before you start cleaning it was possible to overspray in the room. So I switched to doing them outside on the towels. Other advantages included being able to get those edges much better and not worry about overspray hitting other furniture so you could work better faster.

There was always a problem by the third cushion that the towel started to get too wet and you'd have to switch it out so when my wife quit daycare I noticed the great advantage of using her old nap beds. They were expensive and have mesh that doesn't seem to ever hold moisture. They work beautifully outside and kept the side you just did from getting rewetted.

This was my system for the last 5 or 6 years. My son recently told me how annoying it was to continually kneel down constantly getting up to get a cushion and putting it away. It was hard on the knees for me as well. So I decided to switch to a folding table so we can do it standing up.

Now the folding table is nice in height but I really missed that mesh top. I would have to hold the cushion up in the air and do a one more vacuum when it wasn't touching the plastic top to make sure it was dry.

Okay so now we have cleaning cushions 4.0. a nap bed sitting on top of a folding table. I use a couple of those push clamps to hold it down. The little indentations for the feet will hang my spray bottles I put another one near me to move cushions from or set my stuff on and I now have the perfect setup for doing cushions outside.

Okay so the bottom line is it really doesn't matter to the job but does make me more comfortable. And until someone develops a mesh top folding upholstery cleaning table this is it.

On this carpet repair near Temecula the customer had 2 damage spots and a closet swap to get the carpet from.

The house had been sold to the new owner and this was necessary to fix before they took ownership. They had worries. Lots of them. Multiple texts. shopping for the closet carpet piece they never could find and how will it come out. But a standard grey carpet in a closet corner and no one will care.

Pretty simple an hour later and a lot of compliments and thanks and they can move to their new home with no worries.

The other day we arrived at a large vacant carpet cleaning in Temecula. After entry I noticed the water was off. On checking the meter I saw it had a pad lock on it. Ugh no water it was turned off too early. We use fresh water to clean by connecting a water hose to the hose bib.

The home next door was bookmatched so their hose bib was very close across the lawn. Luckily the neighbor was walking by so I asked her that we were here to clean the carpets here but their water is off can we connect to your hose bib it will only take about 25 gallons and will give you 10.00?
She thought and then said its not her problem and walked away.

After she went in the prop mgr mentioned I should have offered her more. I guess so but thought Id ask AI how much 25 gallons of residential supplied water in Temecula is and its 16 cents. So little I may have under estimated might have been 50 gallons in the end but still less than 40 cents.

In any case if you're ever in that situation it really isn't going to put you out to help the cleaner or your neighbor and you can even make a profit.

So in this carpet in Temecula that we've done cleaning for in the past but it had urine issues that are beyond cleaning the customer asked if I could patch out the damaged urine area. So I made a video and you can watch and see how that went.

Patch out urine damage carpet does it make sense?

When we're cleaning commercial carpet like this one in Temecula we often do it as a two stage or even three stage to get it perfect.

So typically we will steam clean it and then do a bonnet rub the bonnet method is a process some companies used as their single method without the benefit of pre-steaming all the soil out. The reason why we finish with a bonnet is that in some cases glued down commercial carpet we'll have blending issues at dry edges or when there's soil bleeding up from below. A bonnet finish prevents this from happening.

Another advantage of doing it in two stages like that is that if my son missed a spot that needed solvent I can hit those while I'm blending with the floor machine.

So what would three stage be well that would be loosening the carpet soil first with a brush on the rotary machine then steaming with the big truck mount then bonnet rubbing with the floor machine. While ads a lot of extra work it greatly improves the finish and is something that we did in the hallway as well as in the conference room.

If you're in Temecula and have a commercial business that needs carpet cleaning or are a residential customer give us a call Thanks.

on this carpet repair job in Temecula before the carpet cleaning the customer wanted the gaps fixed at horror carpet edges.

Very often this is from not proper installation. It usually stems from the wood or tile being installed after the carpet was laid and not being a carpet person they never properly stretched it and attached it. Overtime it tends to shred up a bit and pull away.

In some cases we need to do a patch in other cases I can just stretch it back to the tack strip. I usually have to use a power stretcher to pull enough and this causes next to it to also need to be stretched so that we don't have poofing at the edges. On this one I was able to stretch it except for a little small 1 in section that I patched to end up with this repair that's much better than a full strip repair where the new carpet would be noticeable from the more worn edge. By being able to repair it in different methods I can choose the one that will be the least noticable.

Hillbrands Carpet Care's main business is carpet cleaning but I do a lot of carpet repairs probably more than anyone. The other day I was cleaning out my repair truck. And I laid all my spare carpet that I use to patch the closet which is then used to patch the main room across the driveway. I thought I'd share this picture so you can zoom in on some that might match your carpet.

What strikes me is some of these videos that I've watched I have seen pieces not even seamed into the closet let alone close to the same color.

Yes closet carpet patching to get a donor piece doesn't have to be perfect but people should try a little bit harder hence the reason why I have 50 or so pieces in my truck. It's our goal to get your carpet clean as possible and repaired so it looks good again and having shredded areas in need of repair is not a good look. If you need carpet repairs or carpet cleaning give us a call.

On this carpet cleaning and restretch near Temecula a realtor recommended me but the customer did not want any furniture moved. Which makes carpet restretching incredibly difficult if not impossible. While the carpet cleaning isn't really affected that much.

On the stretching to accommodate her I left all of her heavy furniture in place putting sliders under some furniture so the carpet could slide while the furniture was in place. The limited furniture I did move I could tell bothered her but it was necessary to access the walls and it was just some small items that I replaced when I finished. So it can be done but has some limitations. Perhaps not getting as tight as it could be but the wrinkles were removed and it's much more presentable. And the cleaning also came out really well.

While it's sometimes tough when people don't understand how things work or think we might take off leaving the house a jumble, which we never do, it's my goal to do the best possible with whatever limitations I'm given. Making a home much more sellable and a happy realtor.

I do a lot of reinstallations after a flood. On this flood the customer had moldy tack strip that I removed and put in new. I brought some new padding to install and then installed new carpeting the customer had purchased.

Often a flood company here in Temecula will do the full tear out remove drywall plastic off the room to prevent mold transfer use dehumidifiers and blowers to get the room dry then have the appropriate contractor install new wallboard paint and full new carpet install. So even though they may do floods they really don't do their own installs.

The reason I usually get called is when the insurance isn't paying the many thousands of dollars for it due to the way the flood happened.

This usually means that I have to install new tack strip new padding and their old carpeting that was saved.

However sometimes people want a new piece of carpet installed. For the most part I would suggest going to a new carpet store. Certainly on any large room as that its their business.

But on small jobs like this closet sometimes a customer buys a piece for me to install. This customer used my name and got wholesale pricing from Rayo carpet in Murrieta. This is a better option them home depot roll carpet.

They had the piece for me to install at the home when I got there the match was pretty good and you really can't tell where I seamed it. They have an incredible selection and I really appreciate them.
