It’s funny out of all the days, today is the day I noticed some wet drywall, investigated, and ultimately found a leak. It’s a weekend that I was looking forward to relaxing. Now why is today significant?? well I was doing some reflecting on a number of various social posts I came across over the last few weeks. I’ve started to noticed a number of different notions around water/mold damage being put out there. That tend to breed a great deal speculation, paranoia, and in some cases straight up denial of facts. And this is pretty frustrating to see at times too, because ultimately it’s the consumers who suffer in the end from these notions.
We need to make sure that we’re being honest with ourselves in this industry, and more importantly to the consumers. Water/mold damage isn’t something to be taken lightly, BUT it’s also not something that’s impossible to solve either.
Nobody enjoys dealing with damage, including myself…I just purchased my home, I got one of the best inspectors in Tampa to walk it, highlighted a number of things, but you know what wasn’t highlighted or even found in testing, the very leak I discovered today.🙃
Now if I were to go off of some the standards/notions of some of these individuals I’m referring to, there would be hell to pay for my home inspector, and that’s a very scary thought because if our “industry leaders” start to throw out logic, reasoning, honesty, and facts. You might gain something in the short term, but in the long term WE ALL will lose all credibility with the consumers.
They need us to be reasonable at a time they’re dealing with a situation that might now be. Damage never comes at a good time…
Point ultimately being, you can do everything right. Do inspections, testing, remodel or even build new and something can still fail, break, or leak. Why? Because that’s life, and just because something wasn’t found or occurred damage wise it also doesn’t mean there’s always someone to hold accountable…Ultimately I bought the house, it’s me and while it’s inconvenient (even for me) I have to deal with it just like my very own customers do. #
