Up in the tree today tackling this tall dead pine.

This one has significant dieback and brittle limbs, so it’s being removed carefully piece by piece to protect the surrounding fence and landscape. Jobs like this require experience, planning, and attention to detail every step of the way.

Before and after from a recent sweetgum removal.
Sweetgums can become brittle as they mature and are known for dropping heavy limbs or failing during strong wind events. The homeowner decided removal was the safest option.

Extra care was taken during this job to minimize disturbance to the surrounding pasture so their grazing area remained intact by rigging with ropes.

We’re removing the water oak behind Nick that has developed a significant lean toward the house.

Leaning hardwoods become more hazardous over time as they gain weight, canopy spread, and leverage over nearby structures. Trees rarely lean less as they age — and they certainly don’t get lighter.

🌲 Storm season is coming — tall pines near your home deserve attention. 🌲

We removed the pine on the right yesterday, and today Nick is back up in the canopy taking down the second one.

One thing we see often during strong storms is tall pines snapping mid-trunk — many times around 15–25 feet up. Because they grow tall and narrow with most of their weight in the top canopy, they can become top-heavy and vulnerable under high winds and saturated soil conditions.

These trees were close to the home and retaining wall, so everything had to be climbed and carefully rigged down piece by piece — no shortcuts.

As an ISA Certified Arborist, Nick evaluates tree structure, lean, canopy weight distribution, and root stability before recommending removal.

If you have large pines near your home and you’re unsure about their stability, it’s better to assess them before the next big storm.
