Thursday, and we're talking about the "third thing."
Every short-term rental has two obvious things guests notice: the bed and the bathroom. Get those right, and you're already ahead of most places. But there's a third thing the one nobody puts in a review but everybody feels.
The air.
Not scented. Not sprayed. Just... clear. Like the windows were opened for fifteen minutes before the next guest walked in. Like the dust didn't just get wiped, it got removed. Like the place had a chance to breathe.
That's the part of a turnover that doesn't photograph well. You can't fold it or stack it. But when a Tacoma guest steps in after a long day of travel and takes that first breath, they know. Maybe not consciously. But they feel like the place was prepared for them, not just finished before them.
So here's the question for hosts heading into fall: is your property just visually clean, or does it breathe clean? Because one of those gets rebooked.
