Pool season is over. Pool work is not. Unfortunately, neither is the cold.

Spent the morning closing down pools, which is always a fun reminder that we chose a career involving water and then decided to do it year-round. 😂

Naturally, we made an executive decision to stop at OKI Coffeehouse on Oak Island for breakfast and coffee. Strictly business. Employee morale was at an all-time low due to the temperature.

P.S. Friendly reminder that your backyard still doesn’t have a pool. We can fix that. 😎

This week’s poolside visitor is the beautiful Monarch Butterfly!

🌊 Poolside Fun Fact: Butterflies sometimes gather around puddles and damp pool decks to sip water and absorb minerals through their feet! It’s called puddling—their version of grabbing a drink poolside! 🍹🦋

From incredible migrations to unexpected poolside pit stops, these little beauties remind us that we’re not the only ones enjoying the Beach Life! 💙

This week’s Poolside Critter Spotlight is the dark fishing spider — a giant-looking poolside visitor that can actually use tiny vibrations on the water to help locate prey. 😳

They may look intimidating, but they’re fascinating little neighbors… and apparently they enjoy the pool view too. 😂

Around here, you never know who’s going to show up for Pool School.

No cell phones. No apps. No online scheduling. Just:

📒 a giant paper calendar
💾 one floppy disk holding the whole operation together
💇‍♀️ and enough hairspray to create its own weather system

Thankfully, we were both born a little too late for this version of office life. 😂

Training day!!!🔧🌴 Because the more we know about the equipment we install, the better we can take care of it when you call us saying, “My pool is doing something weird.” 😂

🦀 POOLSIDE CRITTER SPOTLIGHT: GHOST CRAB 👻🌴

If you’ve spent any time near the Carolina coast, chances are you’ve seen one of these little guys sprinting across the sand like he just remembered he left the stove on. 😂

Ghost crabs are way cooler than they look — they can dig burrows several feet deep, have nearly 360° vision, and even have tooth-like structures in their stomachs that can make a growling sound. Tiny beach monster. 😳

And yes…they’re basically built for coastal life. They can pull moisture from damp sand to help keep their gills wet while they’re running around on land.

So next time you see one scuttling around near the pool or beach, give him a little wave. He’s got places to be. 🦀💨
