We had a sweet surprise show up at the laundromat this morning when opening up. Someone left some sidewalk chalk art and what looks like a “welcome to the laundromat” message outside. It definitely made us smile.

We’ve actually been meaning to put together a little something for anyone waiting on their laundry, and this felt like the perfect time to do it. So we added a basket (see photo!) with sidewalk chalk and a few books to enjoy while you wait.

Kids (and kids at heart) are welcome to grab the chalk and leave their own masterpiece outside.

Turns out laundry day can also double as art class, and we are so here for it! We can’t wait to see what shows up next! 🎨🧺😃

It took a bit to get here, but we are happy to say we finally have a new change machine installed at the laundromat 🙌

We know how important it is to have easy access to change while doing laundry, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we worked through getting this taken care of.

Due to the sheer volume of snow, our snow removal vendor won’t be able to get us cleared out until tonight.

The laundromat will be closed today, but will re-open at 8AM tomorrow morning.

Story City, we’re excited to officially introduce ourselves as the new owners of the laundromat.

I’m Sarah, and alongside my fiancé Jake, we’re the family taking the reins. You’ve probably seen us around town as we run both of the car washes as well. We are now thrilled to be keeping your clothes just as clean as your cars.

Jake is the branch manager at First Interstate Bank here in town, and he also keeps our family businesses running smoothly. Whether that’s fixing machines, tackling the to-do list, or making sure everything at the laundromat and car washes works like clockwork. I handle the social media, communication, and behind the scenes organizing. So if you see a post, message, or sign looking extra friendly, that’s probably me. Together, we’re a hands-on team making sure every detail is taken care of.

We are parents to two little ones who keep us busy, laughing, and maybe a little bit caffeinated. We’re a hands-on, community loving family, and we are genuinely grateful for the chance to serve Story City in a new way.

Dave and Theresa built something wonderful here, and we’re honored to continue that same level of care, consistency, and neighborly feel. Same great service you’ve always loved, now with our family behind it.

The Story City Laundromat is officially under new management. As we work through the transition, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dave and Theresa Baker for their years of dedication, and we wish them the best with Fellowcraft Leather.
