Carpet care tip of the day!

Spilled something? Don't rub it — blot it. Rubbing pushes the stain deeper into the fibers and can spread it further, while blotting lifts it up and out. Start from the outside of the spill and work your way in so you don't spread it wider.

And the sooner you treat it, the better your chances of it coming out completely.

Let's talk about pad replacement and when it's time to change it out. When urine has soaked deep into the carpet padding or sub-floor, no amount of surface cleaning can fully remove it. That odor (and the bacteria that comes with it) is living below the carpet, not on top of it.

Fall is here — time to give your carpets and rugs a little seasonal love. 🍂

1. Vacuum more often. Falling leaves and outdoor debris get tracked in more this time of year, so a little extra vacuuming keeps dirt from settling deep into the fibers.

2: Deal with mud right away. Let it dry first, then vacuum or gently brush it out. Rubbing wet mud in only pushes it deeper.

3: Watch for moisture. Cooler, damper weather means rugs near entryways can hold onto moisture longer, which can lead to mildew if it's ignored.

4: Rotate your rugs. More foot traffic through fall and the holidays means uneven wear if you don't switch things up.

5: Schedule a deep clean before the holidays. Get ahead of guest season now so your carpets and rugs are ready before things get busy.
