I realized something the other day…
After nine years of owning Baker SoftWash, I never really introduced myself.
Hey, I’m Shawn.
I’m the owner of Baker SoftWash and I NEED LIGHTS!
No, we’re not a franchise. We’re a locally owned, family-run business that started back in 2017 with a pressure washer, a pickup truck, and a dream.
The truth is… I didn’t start this business because I always dreamed of owning a pressure washing company.
I started it because I got laid off. My family needed to eat. The bills weren’t going to stop.
So I bet on myself.
I didn’t know if it would work. I just knew quitting wasn’t an option.
Looking back, I had no idea how many hats I’d end up wearing… or how many lessons I’d learn along the way.
Leader. Salesman. Marketer. Recruiter. Mechanic. Coach. Problem solver.
And every now and then… the guy everyone calls when something’s broken, someone’s stuck, or nobody knows what to do next. 😂
Most days you’ll find me meeting with homeowners, checking in with the team, answering calls between appointments, reviewing estimates, solving problems, looking at numbers, dreaming up new ideas, and asking myself one question…
“How can we be better tomorrow than we were today?”
People usually see the finished product.
The clean homes. The Christmas lights. The permanent lighting. The wrapped trucks. The five-star reviews.
They don’t always see the 5:00 a.m. mornings, the late nights, the payroll stress, the insurance battles, the equipment failures, the difficult conversations, the setbacks…
Or the nights you lie awake wondering if you’re making the right decisions for your team, your customers, and your family.
But I wouldn’t trade it.
Because somewhere along the way…
This stopped being just about me.
What started as a way to provide for my family has grown into something much bigger.
Today, this business helps provide for the families of the incredible people who work here.
That responsibility is something I never take lightly.
This has never just been about washing houses or installing lights.
It’s about serving people. Creating opportunities. Building a team that genuinely cares.
Doing the right thing, even when nobody’s watching.
And hopefully leaving something better than I found it.
I’m still learning. Still growing. Still making mistakes. Still chasing excellence.
Because I don’t believe you ever truly arrive.
If you’ve trusted us with your home over the last nine years… thank you.
If you’ve referred us to your friends or family… thank you.
If you’ve supported us in any way… thank you.
You helped build this.
And if you’re new here… welcome.
I’m Shawn.
Just a blue-collar entrepreneur who believes your word matters, hard work still means something, and taking care of people will always be good business.
Every customer. Every team member. Every lesson. Every challenge.
Has helped shape the company we’re becoming.
And honestly…
We’re just getting started.
👇 If you own a business, what’s one hat you never expected you’d have to wear? I’d love to hear it
